This Airbnb is a gem. You will be living with a lovely Norwegian couple in a gorgeous house on a traffic free island close to Oslo. The island is like a nature reserve with houses hidden amongst the trees. There are pathways and trails for a walk or run, and many lovely spots for a swim. We traveled by car and parked on the island Nesøya, which is connected to Brønnøya with a foot bridge in winter / a hand-operated cable ferry over a short distance in summer. The walk from the car park on Nesøya to the house is uphill and takes about 15-20 minutes from the car park, over the bridge, to the house. The Airbnb is on the second level of a large house. It is spacious and beautifully decorated. It has been the family's home for decades and radiates love and homeliness. It is obvious from the stylish interior that it is owned by an architect and an artist. The room is small, with a small double bed and a single bed. The bathroom is large and spotless and right next to your room. The bathroom has a washing machine and clothes line. Rigmor served a great breakfast and we also had a superb dinner on the first night of our stay. We had a pleasant evening with Rigmor and Morten, sharing good food and wine… and even dessert. Rigmor is kind and friendly and also keen to share her knowledge and give advice. We had a truly wonderful stay and highly recommend a stay on Brønnøya with Rigmor and Morten.

My stay at Rigmor´s and Morten´s house was such a wonderful experience. They welcomed me as if I were a part of their family. Brønnøya is a picturesque traffic-free island full of history. In the evenings don´t be afraid of running across deers strolling over the island. It´s the perfect place to get away from everyday life and free your mind. Rigmor was so easy and helpful to communicate with. She is such a friendly and wise character full of life. I enjoyed having breakfast in the morning and listening to stories out of her life. Rigmor and Morten are into history, design and architecture, which made it even more a pleasure to be their guest. I felt almost home.

My 12year old son and I had the most fantastic time staying with Rigmor and her husband Morten. They are such great hosts and really welcomed us into their home & family, arranging for us to borrow their bikes to see the island and spend time with their family who lived nearby. Thank you so much. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with you and would love to come back. Brønnøya is a beautiful traffic-free island - well worth the trip from Oslo. We were lucky to have 2 days of sunny warm weather and were able to swim in the local bay and also a couple of other picturesque places further away. It was like being in the Famous Five (Enid Blyton) for a day :-) Rigmor's house is lovely, like a museum with lots of things to look at. She is quite a character, full of life, smiles and tales. They live on the middle floor of a huge house and your bedroom is big enough with your own bathroom next door. The view is across to the nearby houses. I prearranged for Rigmor to cook our evening meals for an extra cost, as there are no shops / restaurants on Brønnøya. She is a great cook. Delicious. Breakfast is included in the price. It is an adventure getting to Brønnøya in the summer months, across the chain ferry (very easy to use). Make sure you get clear instructions about where exactly the house & front door is and how to get to the ferry from the bus, as we had to ask people. We caught the bus from Oslo to the Ikea bus stop and then changed to a local quick bus (sorry I cannot remember the bus numbers!). You can also get the train from Oslo and then one bus. I totally recommend staying here :-)

To stay at Rigmor and Morten's is to make new friends. They must be some of the nicest people you could possibly meet. They made us feel so welcome in their home and helped us find our way around the island, which is beautiful. Rigmor gave us clear directions about how to get to Brønnøya and was very helpful when we called. We hope that we can come back one day!
