The space

Welcome to the Aloha Hale "House" recent upgrades include new flooring, fridge, stove, pans, linens, memory foam, bikes, hammocks, an extra new roll away air bed and much more. We are so honored to be able to share this prime location in the Gated Beach-Lots, where the world famous, hot springs "Champagne Ponds" are located. This is my families favorite place to vacation. We have been blessed with some of the best times of our lives here. Whether teaching our kids how to snorkel in the safe warm waters without worrying about waves and currents, exploring Volcano National Park or just experiencing all the colors, plants and fragrances that fulfill your senses. The Aloha-Hale is directly next door to the Wai'ope tide pools, that offers some of the best snorkeling in all Hawaii without the crowds. The Aloha-House is located on Alapai Point, with low traffic and the sounds of the ocean from 3 sides that creates something very special an always changing wave symphony, to cradle you to sleep then greeting you awake to a new day. If you want to skip all the high priced crowded tourist traps while having a base close to the Volcano, with low crowds, easy ocean access, reef protected bay from waves and current, spectacular Snorkeling, Waterfalls, Black Sand Beaches, Surfing, Kayaking, Hiking, Fishing, Botanical Gardens, Farmers Markets, Biking, and Whale Watching in the winter months, then this may be the perfect place for you. Oh, and while you are here, you have a very rare deeded access to the ocean cove just steps away, shared with only one other house! Swim in 90 degree reef protected turtle and fish filled waters or snorkel in one of the few protected tide-pools in Hawaii for free! The Aloha House is set on a large lot with acres of open land surrounding the property. Nestled in the palm trees, enjoy greeting the day with paradise sunrises on the 2 large lanais (patios), feel the cool trade wind breezes while listening to the ocean waves just steps away. In our opinion, Kapoho Beach Lots is by far the best hidden secret in Hawaii. It is offered at a price that is not only affordable but could have you feeling like you got away with a trip that should have cost thousands more. "Sunny Kapoho" is known for some of the cleanest air and water in the world set in a very unique sunny micro climate. We hope you enjoy this well thought out location and have a trip of a lifetime with memories that last forever.

Guest access

Amazing ocean views from two large patios. Enjoy a rare ocean access, shared with only neighboring house, not available to the public where you can enjoy finding turtles and reef fish in abundance. Main bedroom has a peekaboo ocean view. Alapai point offers ocean waves from three sides that creates a unique ocean symphony to melt all your cares away. Take some time to wander in our tropical gardens featuring plumeria, bougainvillea, bamboo, noni, pineapple plants, mango and coconut palms. You will receive your own gate code to enter the private gated community. You are welcome to enjoy the 4 new bikes in the laundry room at your own risk.

Interaction with guests

Raised on Oahu, we escaped the overcrowded, high prices, noise and vog (Volcano smog on the Kona side) to "Sunny" Kapoho. My family instantly fell in love with this area, which not only offers some of the cleanest air in the world with the best uncrowded snorkeling, but fell in love with the people. This is where time stands still and stress melts away. We can help you plan your trip of a lifetime with memories that will last forever. Please call personally, and we will share our insider secrets to where to swim with wild dolphins, how to find the best lava viewing, hiking adventures, where to eat/shop, and find out what you want to experience to help you save time and money while avoiding the tourist traps. We offer an on premise personal caretaker, "Amy" for added safety, local advice, or to deal with any concerns you may have so you can have a stress free vacation of a lifetime. If you don't require any assistance, your privacy will be completely respected.
Aloha!

We really enjoyed this perfect Hawaiian retreat in the Kapoho beach community, especially the lanais, the 4 new bikes, the multiple snorkel and beach gears and the outside shower. The beds are REALLY comfy :o) We slept like babies, especially when there was a little rain. Suggestions for future renters : Try the sumo plate at Ken's house of pancakes in Hilo ! Tide pools are unique. It's a once in a lifetime must do experience. Try to go at least 2 times to see and observe all the fish and other ocean creatures. We had a wonderful time watching and playing with the geckos and listening to the Coquis at night!! Thanks again for letting us in your house. We highly recommend!

Aloha Hugo Mahalo for your kind review and coming all the way from Canada to stay with us. Hope you make it back in the winter where it is about the same little sunbelt all year long. So great you could recharge, have great adventures and not have to go very far. It is so nice not to need a vacation after your vacation and main reason we were so fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy this area and share it with other wonderful people like you.

Driving in later at night after dark, we were wondering what we were getting in to. Well! Let me tell you. We woke up in paradise. The home is as you see in the photos, very colourful, calming and lovely Hawaiian feel and experience. The TWO lanai's (one covered and one open) were a treat with loungers/hammock and big dining table to enjoy the surf break view in the distance while nestled in tropical lush greenery. VERY private. This home is fully stocked with anything you need. The beds super comfortable. Bonus (and the reason you would come here) is the proximity to all the snorkeling spots which you access via bike if you like (which the host provided) with awesome snorkel gear (again provided by the host). These snorkel sites were bath temperature (I literally dozed off for a second at one point). This truly is a magical place. Lastly Chris is an outstanding host who was always quick with replies to any questions we had about anything. We thought 4 days would be plenty, but in hindsight, you could easily spend more time here. Thank you Chris for a wonderful experience and for providing a slice of heaven for us. Aloha! Anita ps. We recommend to pop into the "Lave Tree Park" (free), ride out to the lava flow at night by rental bikes (about $20/person), Zipline Umauma falls and go for the dip after. It's worth it.

Chris is a first rate host to deal with. He was very available for communication both before and during our stay. Their home is, as advertised, very quiet and close to some of the best snorkelling on Hawaii. When we arrived the house had been prepared for us by Chris' on-site person, Mimi. There was fresh flowers and a couple of cold drinks in the fridge. The bikes were a really nice feature as we were able to travel around the area quite safely. Although the area is quite remote, we never felt anything but safe and secure in our dealings with local people (at the many markets for instance) or in the small businesses around Hilo. It was a great base for seeing the Volcano National Park and the many areas in the Hilo and surrounding areas. If you want to see the Hilo side of Hawaii, we would recommend Chris' place without any concerns.

We had an amazing time at this home. It was a beautiful and private spot in which to relax and was within a 45 min drive of most things we wanted to do on the Hilo side of the island. We loved exploring the champagne pond and the tide pools. We especially loved relaxing on the lanai surrounded by tropical beauty. Chris was a great host with excellent communication and instructions, so our arrival was seamless. Chocolates and drinks were waiting for us upon our arrival and the home was very well equipped. One of our most enjoyable Airbnb stays ever! We were delighted by it and would recommend it to anyone going to this area. Would love to return some day!

I stayed here with my colleague for a few days vacation at the end of a conference. We both loved the place so much we had visions of coming back for a longer stay, writing retreat, or just a friend's vacation! It was very clean, the beds were SUPER comfortable, pillows were GREAT (important for a good sleep), and the decks were wonderful for sitting and listening to the ocean, which laps away in the distance! It felt safe as there were neighbours all around, but you can't see them or hear them - VERY peaceful and relaxing. The place was stocked with everything you might need, including snorkelling equipment, beach mats, etc. As for location - there is so much to that is close by - as listed. Our host Chris made sure to let us know what we might explore, and was very attentive in terms of making sure we had what we needed. THANKS!! We are so grateful to have found this place!

Chris’s place was lovely and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the access to the champagne pools which were such a unique and special treat! The house was well stocked with shampoo, bug spray and sunscreen. Plus plenty of cooking equipment in the kitchen, drinks and snacks. This is definitely a tropical area and we fell asleep to the sound of lots of frogs and woke up to the sound of the waves and birds. Do be forewarned mosquitoes can be prevalent. Chris’s house is easily located so that we could drive to the volcano One Direction on the island and into town for restaurants and shopping in the other direction. And then come home to peace and quiet and spectacular tropical nature. Chris was very accommodating and communicative providing lots of tips on places to go and available whenever I texted or called.

We arrived late and when we saw the house we started (URL HIDDEN) beautiful. When we woke up and saw the ocean and the view we couldn't believe it. We went to the tidalpools and snorkeled. We went to the farmers market since it was Sunday and ate and bought fruit. This mango we brought home was Devine. We sat on the verandas/ patios /(URL HIDDEN) the champagne ponds a huge sea turtle showed up unexpectedly. We had a lot of rain but we didn't care as the climate is great anyway and we went to waterfalls. Botanic gardens. Volcano.Hilo..lava viewpoint very close by. We ate at great eateries ..organic stores..restaurants in Pahoa. Chris gave us nice tips of things to do. Mimi was very nice but they do respect your privacy and just give you the support of knowing someone nice who cares about you and the area and you enjoying it. We love this side of this Island on our first trip to Hawaii ever and we will be back. Locals very cool. We like hippies!
