Sondalo is a small town in the upper Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio (altitude 900/1000 m. above sea level) surrounded by greenery and beautiful mountains. Staying there ensures the tourist a pleasant and relaxing vacation.
Thanks to the presence of all essential services (supermarket, self-service laundry, small grocery stores, greengrocer, bakery, pastry shop, hardware store, bars, restaurants, pizzerias, library, church, pharmacy and hospital) you can enjoy all the amenities without using the car.
In the municipal area, the splendid and uncontaminated Val di Rezzalo (Stelvio National Park) and many other peaks and mountain pastures can be reached both on foot and by mountain bike, through mapped and well-marked trails.
There are numerous bike paths on the valley floor, and, for the most passionate and experienced cyclists, the Bormio-360 Adventure Trail, which winds throughout Alta Valtellina in a 140 km loop.
Bormio and Tirano are a 15-minute drive away, while Livigno can be reached in 60 minutes and Santa Caterina Valfurva in 30 minutes.
In Tirano is the departure station of the Bernina red train - a UNESCO heritage site - which crosses a fabulous landscape, leading to the renowned Swiss town of Saint Moritz.
