Relaxing double room in a wonderfully idyllic 17th century thatched country cottage right on the doorstep of Longleat Safari Park. A sanctuary from all the hustle and bustle of modern life - peaceful and beautiful. Off the beaten track and laid back. Nestled into the folds of the Cranborne Chase area of outstanding natural beauty and with a super comfy bed you're virtually guaranteed a great night.

The space

Perched atop Rowes Hill the only thing that disturbs the peace here is the glorious birdsong. You can often count the number of cars passing on one hand. An abundance of nature with the forest only 50m up the hill and wonderful views let you recharge your batteries and let go of the fast lane.

Our house is a characterful and relaxed 17th Century thatched gorgeous cottage. It is surprisingly spacious - having originally been two cottages and a barn and also has lots of contemporary touches. It has a beautiful and large private garden that is full of apple trees, giant beech trees and usually a hot tub.

We're relaxed hosts and the space reflects that. It's a homely place where you can be yourselves and feel at home. It's not all going to be pristine as it is an historic building which we're still improving, but people tell us they have the best sleep they've ever had and love being here.

Your room has a sumptuous queen sized pocket sprung mattress with memory foam topper over which is another cotton mattress topper! All the linen is freshly laundered and is 200 thread count cotton. We think a comfortable sleep is really important and are happy to tweak your room to suit you.

The bedroom is at the beginning of the corridor on the first floor with the stairs on one side of it and the simple shared bathroom on the other side - making it feel more private and perfectly situated for the bathroom (the remaining bedrooms are further along the corridor).

Guest access

You'll also have access to the fabulous country kitchen complete with aga, the equally spacious barn lounge full of sofas and delicious woodburner. And then there's the large and beautiful garden with gorgeous views.

You'll have your own key of course, so can come and go as you please.

Interaction with guests

We run yoga and meditation holidays and retreats and so we enjoy meeting people and are happy to interact as much or as little as you please depending on our availability. Private yoga or meditation sessions are also available on request.

We have two lovely muchkins aged 12 and 14, but rest assured they are well house trained, although might be a little chatty once they overcome their initial shyness :)

Other things to note

A help yourself continental breakfast (toast, cereals/muesli, eggs, spreads, juices, tea and coffee) is included in your stay. If we're around for breakfast we're happy to make you some eggs and have a natter. Packed lunches and yummy dinners can also be included if required for a small cost, just ask.

The simple bathroom has a vintage cast iron bath in which you can have a long and delicious soak - we don't currently have a shower fitted.

Check in and check out times can be more flexible if we have availability.

Private yoga and meditation sessions start from £25. The hot tub can also be fired up for a blissful soak under the stars for £20.

As it very silent here at night - it is probably not suitable for very young children who have difficulties sleeping through the night.

If you require accommodation for more people -we may be able to accommodate you in one of the other bedrooms or in our beautiful bell tent in the garden.

We had a lovely stay, the house is just as described and in the middle of the countryside so perfect for after a day at the spa! (Centre parcs, just ten min drive away) beautiful old house with lots of character (including creaky floorboards as to be expected) and we were made to feel very welcome :)
