The space
Our homely bed and breakfast is in Wordworth's historic town of Cockermouth. We have lovely views overlooking the roof tops and river and up to All Saints Church. It is a spacious Georgian house with fascinating items from all over the world. If you like a house with some character - this is for you! Eccles, our friendly little dog loves greeting all our guests.
There is easy access to lakes, fells, picturesque villages and coastline and good transport links. There are numerous pubs, eating places and shops close by.

Guest access
There is a shared comfortable lounge - a book haven for all tastes and plenty of maps to plan your days out! The cheerful kitchen dining room where Rachel will cook your breakfast overlooks the River Cocker with its trees and birdlife. We are on the C2C and Reivers bike routes and provide a lock-up garage for bike storage with six stands. Drying facilities are available and a bike repair shop is round the corner! There is room for motorbikes . There is plenty of local walking opportunities from the house. Due to steep stairs, unfortunately our house is not suitable for children below 8 years or people with walking difficulties.

Other things to note
The room is on the second floor and involves 2 flights of stairs with bathroom on the floor below. Visitors with mobility difficulties will find the single room on the first floor more suitable.

Location

Cockermouth, Cumbria, United Kingdom

As well as the stunning lakes and hills of the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall is a must. We are ideally ideally situated to travel to the quieter Western Lake District valleys. Why not take a tour of the local Jennings Brewery or the family home of Wordsworth in Cockermouth? Come to the Malcolm Wilson car rally in February, Wool Fest in June, Cockermouth Live in July, Cockermouth Agricultural Show, Taste Cumbria Food festival in September, superb Christmas lights and food festival in December. Plenty of music, films and theatre are on at nearby Kirkgate Centre throughout the year.

I enjoy meeting people from UK and around the world and welcoming them to this lovely area of Cumbria and the Lake District. I used to work in the tourist office, so have lots of detailed knowledge about places to visit, walks to take, and places to eat. I find that my 3 roomed bed and breakfast keeps me pretty busy! I have been running the b and b for several years and have welcomed many people who have returned for second and third visits! My small, friendly dog Eccles keeps me active outdoors, and she works as a very efficient door-bell! When I get the time I enjoy reading, art and craft activities such as patchwork, music and visiting gardens with good tea shops! I help out at the local Kirkgate theatre back stage and have sung in musicals at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick. I pride myself on providing a hearty breakfast with good quality ingredients - local wherever possible. Do ask if you have any questions or requests and I will try to help. Enjoy!
