A great get-a-way break for locals or distant travelers. Furnished 4 room ac'd cottage on 2 wooded tranquil acres, 200 foot frontage on trophy trout stocked Housatonic River, viewed from within the cabin.
Watercraft are available from rental center for a 10 mile river run with pickup/dropoff
Tanglewood concerts are an hour away.
Appalachian Trail access is about 3 miles away.
Hotchkiss has an excellent 9 hole golf course.

The space
Have access to 200+ feet of a prime trout stocked river. See an occasional deer at dawn or blue heron or bald eagle by the river. Enjoy the outdoors. Watch people in canoes, kayaks and/or rafts float down the river...or join them for the ~10 mile trip with canoes/rafts/kayak rentals , including drop off and pick up available at Clarks, about 3 miles south on Route 7. Or just cool off with a dip in the river. Bring sneakers for the rocky bottom.

There are two twins beds in the bedroom with an ac unit.
There is a twin day bed on the side enclosed sun porch with an ac. Access passage from porch to kitchen needs to go through bedroom.
A queen bed and couch are set up in the living room with an ac.

All rooms have fantastic river views. The property manager/ housekeeper only lives twenty minutes away and is available if there is any need.

A tv/ dvd player is there for your use with some movies or bring any favorites to play. There is no televised tv available. A wood burning stove extends out of the fireplace area in the living room.
Outside, next to the cabin are a table, chairs and a brick fireplace for grilling.
A fire pit with table and chairs is at the river's edge for a small campfire, bbq( a small portable grill is available/ you supply the charcoal) and relaxing. Please observe any local restrictions(I.e. small, and restricted if too dry). Need to bring your own firewood, but a pile of cut tree limb twigs is available.

If that much sleeping area is unnecessary but you want the full kitchen, washer/dryer and bed in the living room, I have installed a lockbox on the bedroom and enclosed porch area. So if you only need one bed (and a sleep-able couch in same room), and full kitchen, rental and cleaning fees would be less. Of course full cottage usage gets first priority. If not rented, you can prebook this half cottage one month in advance.

The cottage is on a tree lined dead end road with most neighborhood homes only secondary tranquil retreats. Only two additional properties exist past mine so road use is minimal and the area quiet except for the gentle sound of the river.

I'm 6'1", 180 pounds, active 78 year old retired engineer. I enjoy the outdoors( gardening, fishing, golfing, hiking, canoeing) and indoors( former ballroom dance teacher, opera, ballet, concerts, plays/ musicals). I enjoy cooking, and trying to eat less meat, found some vegan dishes delicious. I traveled to different Latin American countries as a student, 3 weeks period, to learn some Spanish. It included staying at a locals house where they fed me breakfast and dinner and only talked Spanish...a little challenging ! I do travel a lot so have hired a local cleaning service that charges me $100 for the 4 room cottage and $50 for the 2 room as long as all the dishes have been washed by the guests. I plan trips up to the cottage when not rented. I enjoy working on improvements to the cottages and the landscape. And I try to get in some fishing !!!
