Our detached studio cottage is nestled in the hills of Maunalani Heights in Kaimuki, HI about fifteen minutes by car from Diamond Head, beautiful beaches, hiking paths, Kahala Mall, Whole Foods and the best restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops on the island.

The cottage has a kitchenette with a refrig, toaster oven, a comfy Queen size bed, AC ( few places provide AC in Hawaii), washer and dryer, a nice lanai where you can enjoy your morning cup of coffee and a one car covered parking.

The space

This is a cozy detached cottage with the Hawaiian style corrugated metal roof surrounded by mango, lychee and banana trees and sometimes even pineapple plants! There is a comfy Queen size bed, full bath and kitchenette with refrigerator, toaster oven, and microwave. You have a shared washer and dryer (with only one other person) and A/C for those occasional hot tropical days. There are dishes, cups, glasses, silverware and knives as well as a coffee maker for your use. Have your morning coffee on your own private lanai and wake up to the cool Hawaiian breezes and the tropical birds chirping. Escape from your busy lifestyle and unplug.

Guest access

There is a one car covered parking stall, shared washer and dryer with just one person, and AC for the occasion warm nite. Very few listings in Hawaii have AC and washer and dryers. This is truly a economical home away from home with many more amenities than a hotel provides and much cheaper!! Parking for your rental cars at Waikiki hotels is usually an additional $40 a nite.

Interaction with guests

I am available to help make your stay as stress free and relaxing as possible. Being that I was born and raised in Hawaii I can help with local sites, hiking paths, restaurants and other activities. I will also respect your desire for privacy, peace and quiet. I am here to help make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible; but I will not intrude on your privacy.

Other things to note

We have one covered parking and one open stall for bigger vehicles. There
are no parking fees to worry about unlike when you stay at hotels where it is common to be charged $40 or more per day. We also have a washer and dryer shared with just one other person and AC for the occasional hot tropical evenings. We provide beach chairs, beach toys and beach towels.

You will feel removed from the hustle and bustle because of the lush surroundings and cool tropical breezes, birds chirping and peaceful atmosphere; but are only minutes from everything.

We purposely picked Jen's place so we can have some peace and quiet away from Waikiki. The room is very cozy and it's got everything we need including laundry and Jen had some beach and snorkeling gears as well. It's also very close to Diamond Head and a lot of great restaurants and also a mall with Wholefoods. Jen greeted us when we first got there and she has a folder with activities and food recommendations in different areas of Oahu. We enjoyed our stay a lot, highly recommend!

Jen was a great host. She greeted us upon arrival and showed us around her cottage. She also provided us with directions and recommendations to some of the sight seeing spots and eateries nearby. Her cottage was clean and welcoming, complete with a toaster oven, microwave and a mini fridge. Jen even provided us with beach towels and snorkeling gear for our use. The cottage is away from the hustle and bustle and only a quick 10-15min drive to Diamond Head and the Waikiki strip. Overall, we had a great time and can't wait for our next visit!

Jennifer was a great host and offered local tips for good spots to hit during my trip. The little cottage was a perfect quiet spot in the hills just north of the touristy Waikiki Beach area. The lanai was great in the morning and at night for a peaceful cup of coffee or glass of wine. I was also able to meet her husband Bill who I made a connection with for the potential of future work endeavors. Will definitely stay here again when I return.

A great location in an established neighborhood. Very clean and quiet. Not to be missed: morning coffee on the deck (amid the chirping tropical birds and vegetation) after an early run around the hilly neighborhood (with a view). Within a short walk to the Lanipo Trailhead. Jen is a great host and always available for questions and suggestions. Why stay in Waikiki when you can have this?
