Summer is here! The "Big Green Victorian-Upstairs Quiet & Comfortable" is a great place to stay to visit, and experience, the Northeast Kingdom (NEK). Right on the Canadian border this little City is surrounded by all the things you're looking for, hiking, biking, swimming, sightseeing without the crush of people. Come explore, stay & visit family, or friends, or do business. The "Big Green Victorian" looks forward to welcoming you!

The space
This 2nd floor apartment offers a Queen-size bed with linens and blankets. The bath has a clawfoot tub/shower (shared, but only with others you come with), Cable, WiFi and laundry facilities. The kitchen is complete (except for a dishwasher) with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker with Green Mountain Roasters Nantucket Blend coffee, pots, pans, dishes... A complimentary Gift Certificate to a local restaurant for breakfast will be on the coffee table with the keys.

A screened in porch offers an additional social area (depending on the weather!). The comfortable large living room is adjacent to the kitchen and bedroom. There is an additional room attached with a full-size bed that is available to parties of 3 or more. A complimentary Gift Certificate to a local restaurant for breakfast.

If you are 2 people, who don't like sleeping in the same bed (for whatever reason), let me know and I will get the queen-size sofa bed ready for you. It has a memory foam mattress. There's no additional charge.

However, if you prefer using the other bedroom, instead of the sofa bed, that can be arranged for an additional charge of $10.00 per night. If interested, let me know when booking.

Groups of 5-6 are possible utilizing the sofa bed.

If you have no need of the kitchen/laundry, you might take a look at my other listing, "Downstairs at the BGV."

You might also consider booking both listings, to accommodate up to 9 people.

Where you’ll be

Newport, Vermont, United States

Newport itself, sits at the southern end of Lake Memphremagog, an Indian name meaning (and fitting), "beautiful waters." From the "BGV" you're a 5-minute walk/ski to the lake where, if you have snowshoes or cross-country skis, can traverse in a variety of directions once the lake is frozen. Best to check before you proceed though. However, cross-country skiing on the bike path is permitted.

The top of the lake is in Magog, PQ (Canada), a charming, French Canadian city, 40 minutes away by car. Along the way, the trip takes you through some of the lovely Eastern Township communities providing a variety of seasonal offerings. A passport is required.

I think of myself as creative and eclectic. You’ll pick up on that when you arrive. My Airbnb offering is a comfortable combination of different time periods, ranging from the 1970’s to today. I was left a big house, with furniture in good condition, so it just seemed natural to put it to good use. Many of my guests have commented on how the furnishings create a sense of comfort, and welcome. In 2021, I will have been Hosting with Airbnb for six years. I've welcomed a lot of people and feel good about the successes I've had. I look to the future with hope. As a "Friend," and Board Member of Joshua House Inc., a local nonprofit that works to keep people sustainable and prevent them from ending up homeless; I will donate 5% of what I make on each paid reservation. Caring about others is what hosting is all about! I appreciate positive criticism. The reviews and comments of my guests are always appreciated and taken to heart when preparing for new guests to arrive.

During your stay
I look forward to welcoming you personally, but your arrival is based on your schedule, not mine. I like to contact my guest prior to their arrival to explain how to get to my driveway and into the house. When you arrive, the house and the apartment will be unlocked, and ready. Instructions about the keys and the doors are provided once you arrive.

As it is a big house, I live here as well. So if you need something, I'm available and will do my best to help you.
