Here is The Refuge. A place where you feel like yourself. Where one has the impression of being disconnected from the world. Where time stands still. A place where you can savour the little moments and the big ones.
35 minutes from Yarmouth, 30 minutes from Mavillette Provincial Beach and less than 60 minutes from Digby, The Refuge is located in the heart of the forest on the Wentworth Lake and River. It is located on a no end road which guarantees great tranquility with all amenities(ex:Wifi)
The space
Simply for a stay as a couple, with friends or to accommodate a family of five, it offers two bedrooms. The open concept with its large windows allows an exceptional view of Wentworth Lake and River, as well as the forest. A beautiful large fully equipped kitchen and two lounge areas. One of which has a real stone chimney, with the convenience of starting a fire at the push of a button.
Other things to note
There is the constancy of the fall that lulls us with its chorus, the fluidity of the river that carries us away in reverie and the beauty of the lake and the forest that reveal their faunal and floral treasures to us. There are majestic sunsets and starry skies. Regardless of the season, the Refuge welcomes us and envelops us in its surrounding beauty.
The Lac Wentworth Nature Reserve protects a long, narrow ridge of mixed coniferous and deciduous forest that separates Wentworth and Little Wentworth lakes. The rich soils support impressive forest stands with old sugar maple, yellow birch, eastern hemlock and red spruce.
Lake Wentworth on which The Refuge is located is a very quiet 11 km body of water with islands to explore by navigable access. Also, the river that passes just in front of The Refuge, gradually flows into Little Wentworth and Privilege lakes, and forms the start of the Carleton River canoe route. The crossing of rivers and waterfalls makes it an ideal place for water activities such as kayaking, canoeing and portaging. This nature reserve contributes to maintaining the very picturesque character of Wentworth and Little Wentworth lakes and The Refuge is also a fine example.

Neighbourhood highlights
The neighborhood is very quiet. Your most visible neighbors will be animals and birds! The only neighboring chalet is located on the other side of the bridge and is not visible from The Refuge. Another neighbor occasionally resides in his trailer, but this one is not visible from The Refuge either.
A walk in the neighborhood is also possible! First, Le Refuge is located on 8 acres of wooded land. If that is not enough for you, you can continue your ride on the gravel road on a dead end road or on the wooded tracks of the Crown's lands testifying to a distant heritage of logging. The trees have since grown back, but the remnants of that time allow for more accessible routes through the forest. Finally, you also have the option of following the course of the Wentworth River to get to the next uninhabited lake. Whether you opt for one or the other of the walks, you can try to identify different footprints and tracks of animals such as deer, rabbits, lynx, coyotes or squirrels!
As you could for all walks in the forest, I recommend that you find out about all the preventive measures. For example, if you walk in the forest between October and January, it is recommended to wear at least one piece of orange clothing since it is hunting season. A lot of information also exists on ticks or poison ivy. Please bring the necessary equipment if you decide to explore the surroundings (pepper spray, whistle, organge clothing, ect.).
In closing, if you want to explore the area, I recommend checking out the Sainte-Mary's Bay tourism website. As it is an Acadian region, a rich history and culture is very much alive here.
