Whole Village is an ecovillage located in Caledon near Orangeville on a 191-acre farm. This delightfully rustic little cabin is located a 3-minute walk from our eco-house and parking lot. Our lifestyle is simple and informal.

The space

Our little blue cabin near the pond has a rustic wooden interior and simple furnishings including a comfortable double futon with frame. The space is about 90 square feet. There is an outdoor "potty shack" a few steps away and an outdoor solar-heated shower and sink nearby. You are also welcome to use our indoor washroom if you prefer. It's about a 3-minute walk away. Wi-fi is available in the main house. You can sit in the dining room or living room to access the internet.

Guest access

You can enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of our property which is home to wetlands, maple bush, orchard, berry and vegetable gardens as well as a pond for swimming or rafting. You will have access to our eco-library, the kids play room, rec room and big living room/dining room.

Your breakfast will be self-serve style in our central kitchen and will include our own eggs, seasonal fruit and vegetables. Special diets can be accommodated. Some evenings Monday to Friday we have community dinners which you are welcome to join at a cost of $10 each. Our kitchen is not available for preparing your own lunches and dinners but we are happy to recommend many good restaurants in the area.

Interaction with guests

If you'd like a guided tour of the house and farm please make your request at the time of booking and we'll try to find an available tour guide. The cost is $10 per person. You'll have the opportunity to meet some of our residents and perhaps join in a community meal during the week. We sometimes have campfires by the pond.

Other things to note

The rates quoted are for one person. $10 per night extra for each additional person over 10 years old. Children under the age of 2 are free. Children between the ages of 2 and 10 are $5 each per night. Please request a "Special Offer" when booking. A 15% discount is offered for a 3-night or more stay. As AirB&B's system only calculates this discount for a week or more, we will manually adjust the price as applicable - please request a Special Offer when booking. If cleaning or fresh linens are required after check-in a $10 charge will apply. Check-in after 1 p.m. and check-out by 11 a.m.

We had an excellent stay. The cabin was cozy and had some extra blankets, the grounds were gorgeous, and the hosts were lovely. Farm fresh eggs and muffins in the morning were great. Very close to many things too. Highly recommend!

The cabin though very rustic, haf everything that I needed. There was even electricity so that I charged my phone. Very cozy and quiet. Lots of walking trails and a good of a working farm. I particularly enjoyed the homemade muffins in the morning & the delicious dinner I had one night sharing good conversation & food with the people who live at Whole Village. They made me feel right at home in their community.

The overall stay was good. There were a few miscommunications that could probably have been avoided had communication been better on both sides. Be sure to review the entire description of this bnb before booking.

Response from Whole Village:
Brandon is quite right that in order for communication to be clear, it is important for the guest to read the host’s description before arrival. As well, our email sent a couple of days before arrival with questions about dietary preferences and information about arrival time and how to find us needs to be read and responded to. Because Brandon did not read our description or reply to our emails he and Galen were going on incorrect assumptions which unfortunately were awkward for us all. However, we appreciated Jess’s apology and did enjoy meeting Brandon and Galen.

My fiancé and I had a lovely time staying at The Whole Village! Julie, the host, was lovely, and very communicative and accommodating. She gave us an informative tour as soon as we arrived. It was really neat to learn about the community there. Breakfast was delicious every single day, especially the carrot muffins! We also enjoyed being welcome in the main house any time to access regular plumbing and wifi, and a beautiful sounding upright piano. The cabin itself was very cozy and comfortable, for the most part. Two nights were a little chilly due to below-average temperature that weekend, but we were provided with extra blankets that helped a lot. We had so much fun visiting the shops and cafes in downtown Orangeville, and The Alton Mill as recommended by Julie. Additionally, we recommend that Spirit Tree Estate Cidery for cider samples, dinner, and lots of delicious baked goods. You can also pass by the badlands on the way if you'd like, you just can't technically stop your car. Thanks for a great stay!

Congratulations Kristen & Travis! And thanks for the tip about Spirit Tree Cidery. I'll be sure to pass that along to others.
