Description

The space

Our little blue cabin near the pond has a rustic wooden interior and simple furnishings including a comfortable double futon with frame. The space is about 90 square feet. There is an outdoor "potty shack" a few steps away and an outdoor solar-heated shower and sink nearby. You are also welcome to use our indoor washroom if you prefer. It's about a 3-minute walk away. Wi-fi is available in the main house. You can sit in the dining room or living room to access the internet.

Guest access

You can enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of our property which is home to wetlands, maple bush, orchard, berry and vegetable gardens as well as a pond for swimming or rafting. You will have access to our eco-library, the kids play room, rec room and big living room/dining room.

Your breakfast will be self-serve style in our central kitchen and will include our own eggs, seasonal fruit and vegetables. Special diets can be accommodated. Some evenings Monday to Friday we have community dinners which you are welcome to join at a cost of $10 each. Our kitchen is not available for preparing your own lunches and dinners but we are happy to recommend many good restaurants in the area.

Interaction with guests

If you'd like a guided tour of the house and farm please make your request at the time of booking and we'll try to find an available tour guide. The cost is $10 per person. You'll have the opportunity to meet some of our residents and perhaps join in a community meal during the week. We sometimes have campfires by the pond.

The neighbourhood

We're close to many local attractions including the Alton Mill, the Bruce Trail, and the towns of Orangeville and Alton where many restaurants, live entertainment, shopping and spas are located.

Getting around

We're an hour north of Toronto by car. There is no public transportation to our door (other than taxi) but we are 15 minutes from a GO transit stop in Orangeville. Pickup and drop-off can be arranged Monday to Friday from the Orangeville GO station only.

Other things to note

The rates quoted are for one person. $10 per night extra for each additional person over 10 years old. Children under the age of 2 are free. Children between the ages of 2 and 10 are $5 each per night. Please request a "Special Offer" when booking. A 15% discount is offered for a 3-night or more stay. As AirB&B's system only calculates this discount for a week or more, we will manually adjust the price as applicable - please request a Special Offer when booking. If cleaning or fresh linens are required after check-in a $10 charge will apply. Check-in after 1 p.m. and check-out by 11 a.m.

Me and my husband loved our relaxing stay at the whole Village. A great environment of kind, friendly people. We enjoyed, the pond, the farm, and ping pong. Our host, Julie, was lovely and answered all out questions. We are looking forward to coming back.

Great place to come to get away from the city. Julie is very friendly and helpful (and very considerate for my dairy free breakfast) The solar powered shower is great. I came here to get some peace and quiet and get writing done and found it very relaxing and comfortable!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Whole Village. The atmosphere is relaxing and calming as are the people you run into. I would consider the cabin itself just a place to rest your head, the true experience of the stay lies within the community and the places you are able to wander on the property. Julie was really helpful as well as knowledgeable whenever we had questions.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Julie is an excellent host, she went out of her way to assist us and her communication was great. The cabin itself is small, with a couple desks and a chair besides the bed, but it really is all you need. We were lucky with great weather, so we spent almost all of it outside, either exploring the farm, rafting on the pond, or cycling to a couple nearby towns/villages. The scenery is beautiful, both on the farm itself and in the surrounding area, and we found some lovely spots. The community residents are all very friendly and it was a pleasure meeting them. Can't recommend the place enough, especially if you're booking at a time when you can expect some good weather. Amazing experience!

Staying here was such a peaceful and relaxing time... exactly what I was after! Julie and the community were very welcoming, and the cabin offered all the necessities for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was wonderful (I particularly enjoyed the muffins!), and my friend and I both enjoyed the walking paths, swimming/boating in the pond, as well as visiting the animals in the barn! I look forward to the possibility of visiting again!
