Staying at Bali Lush transports you back to a time when rice fields dominated most of Bali island. The former one-hectare rice terrace has been transformed into a boutique eco-friendly retreat that immerses you in the traditions and beliefs of the rice farming village of Manikyang. Standing in the presence of Mount Batukaru, Bali’s second highest peak at 2,276 meters, the village is one of the hidden treasures of Tabanan regency.
Bali Dwipa Jaya (Glorious Bali Island) attracts souls who possess a spirit of adventure and heart full of love. The Limasan Romance was born in Central Java and reincarnated on the slopes of our property by Javanese craftsmen. They skillfully reassembled its antique teak-wood walls and carefully capped it with Balinese clay tiles. A floor-to-ceiling red brick wall separates the large traditional dwelling into two spacious and intimate rooms.
A veranda that runs the entire width of the building forms a friendly smile. A beautiful collection of decorated hats typically worn by Balinese working in the rice fields whimsically decorate the Limasan’s foyer. You can choose to have your meals served on the veranda so you can watch the rice fields dance and listen to the stream sing. Blue and white ceramic tiles reminiscent of Tang and Song dynasties’ blue and white porcelain ware create a magical tableau beneath your feet.
The Dragonfly Room is the largest room on the property. It can sleep up to 5 people and is furnished with an American king-sized bed and a single bed/settee in the main room and a bunk bed in a separate area. A hand-made secretary’s desk sits in-front of a 8ft x 8ft window with a view of the Bali Lush’s private rice field. Inspiration for your long-awaited novel or the right words for a love letter can be found in the tranquility of the greenery. Coconut trees and native fruit trees form a canopy over the room’s open air shower.
Limasans are built to take advantage of Bali’s beautiful weather. While we are eco-friendly, we place your comfort first. Air conditioning and ceiling fans have been installed just in case the heat and humidity rises faster than the sun sets. All beds have mosquito nets that protect you from the occasional visitor. We have also stocked a refrigerator with treats and drinks you can enjoy for a small fee. A safe can be found in the closet for added piece of mind.
Frangipani trees line both sides of the central walkway that runs from the top of the property to the stream that delineates the lower boundary. Rose bushes, orchids and numerous of other flowering plants decorate the terraces. Indonesian teak cottages lovingly restored by Javanese master craftsmen are strategically place on the property among fruit trees that produce guavas, lemons, mangoes, papayas and water apples. A large Bale sits besides the romantic heart-shaped pool; ready for an afternoon nap or evening stargazing.
You have access to the following:
-Heart-shaped swimming pool
-Bale (large antique thatched-roofed daybed). If you prefer to sleep in the Bale instead of the Gladak, we can set up a mosquito net and prepare the bedding upon request.
-Fruit orchard. We invite you to pick and eat fruit direct from the property's trees. Adi will be happy to retrieve and prepare a refreshing coconut for you to enjoy.
-Vegetable garden. We grow a variety of heirloom vegetables using permaculture techniques.
-Assorted farm animals
-Heritage rice paddy
-Coconut and papaya grove
-Private Hindu family shrine

Other things to note
Children love Bali Lush. Bali Lush is a great opportunity to meet and play with lots of different farm animals. We have a brand new piglet that you canhold. We also have 2 dogs: Poppy a red female Golden Retriever x Labrador; and Lucky, a black female Bali Street Dog x fox terrier. Both animals were rescued from the street. Many of our neighbours raise farm animals like cows, goats, chickens, and ducks. We can make arrangements for you to visit and feed these gentle creatures.
Because they are wooden structures, we ask that you please refrain from smoking or lighting candles in the cottages or at poolside Bale.

I live next door to Bali Lush and I manage the property. I am proud to be Balinese and look forward to showing you my village. I regularly take guests on a morning walk through the village to a nearby waterfall, and can explain all about the temples, traditional ceremonies, farming, and plants of the area. I look forward to showing you the Real Bali.
I live with my wife, 2 children and parents.
