Whole Village is an ecovillage located in Caledon near Orangeville on a 191-acre farm. This delightfully rustic little cabin is located a 3-minute walk from our eco-house and parking lot. Our lifestyle is simple and informal.

The space

This cabin near the pond has a wooden interior and simple furnishings including a comfortable double bed. The space is about 100 square feet. There is an outdoor "potty shack" a few steps away and an outdoor solar-heated shower and sink nearby. You are also welcome to use our indoor washroom if you prefer. It's about a 3-minute walk away. Wi-fi is available in the main house. You can sit in the dining room or living room to access the internet.

Guest access

You can enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of our property which is home to wetlands, maple bush, orchard, berry and vegetable gardens as well as a pond for swimming or rafting. You will have access to our eco-library, the kids play room, rec room and big living room/dining room.

Your breakfast will be self-serve style in our central kitchen and will include our own eggs, seasonal fruit and vegetables. Special diets can be accommodated. Some evenings Monday to Friday we have community dinners which you are welcome to join at a cost of $10 each. Our kitchen is not available for preparing your own lunches and dinners but we are happy to recommend many good restaurants in the area.

Interaction with guests

Guided tours of the house and farm can be arranged. You'll have the opportunity to meet some of our residents and perhaps join in a community meal during the week. We sometimes have campfires by the pond.

We loved our stay in the Treehouse! Julie was a wonderful hostess and we felt very welcome during our time there. The fresh eggs for breakfast were delicious, and our 3 year old loved going to thank the chickens for his breakfast. Overall, a wonderful stay! We are looking forward to staying there again.

This is an amazing place! The pictures of the cabin is not really accurate as it's even better in person. It was clean, comfortable and has enough blankets to keep you warm. The eggs we had for breakfast were the best we've ever had!! The people there are lovely and the land is beautiful. We could've driven much further to be in such peace and serenity, but we were glad that we didn't need to. We are already planning on being at the work bee this Saturday, as we can't get enough of this place!

Had a wonderful stay at the farm over the August long weekend. It was the perfect getaway from Toronto. Julie was great and very hospitable. Loved the solar shower and showering outdoors. It was also great to have farm fresh eggs in the morning along with some fruit and toast/muffin. Julie caters to your dietary needs too. Unfortunately the weather was not the greatest over the weekend, so it was pretty cold and damp the first day and a bit but overall I really loved it. Just a couple things to note... -If the weather is rainy and cold, it might get very cold over night. You might want to bring some warm sleepwear. -Also, there are quite a lot of windows and not all have blinds. The morning sun will stream right in. -The blinds that are there help with privacy along the path in front, however not at night with the light on. You can see in from outside, and the other cabin is right next door.

Whole Village is an AMAZING place - offers the possibility of enjoying a great place with sustainable farming and rewilding of the area. It is a gem in the middle of great rolling landscapes, and so close to Toronto. Julie, the host, is a sweet heart and made me feel instantly welcome and comfortable. She is a great baker too. The cabin is a delight, it felt like sleeping in a tree house. I can't wait to go back!

I would give it six stars but can't. The only thing I would mention is that while the experience is great, it is not a traditional BNB and you should read the descriptions to ensure its the kind of thing you want.

As the other reviewers pointed out it is more than a stay it's an experience, very relaxing and interesting will be remembered for a long time, would suggest to anyone with an open mind that is curious about permaculture or ecological way of life... the cabin in the woods is very nice and bigger than I've had imagined from the pictures
