Hiroko is very friendly and helpful. She recommended local restaurants and offered breakfast. We stayed there only for 3 nights, but we really enjoyed it. The room was cozy and clean. The house is in quiet area. And we did not have any problems with parking.

We stayed in Manoa while visiting family and friends. The location is so convenient to doing anything in Honolulu. The room itself met our needs: nice bed, private entrance, free parking, clean room, storage space, and private bathroom. We were out and about most of the time, but…

Host was not able to greet us on arrival, but allowed us to drop-off luggage early. Came back later at 4 pm check-in, but the room was not ready. Separate entrance is not private just for your use as there are other shoes/people using it as needed. The noise from a crying baby in…

Response from Hiroko & Brendon:
Aloha Melanie! We are truly sorry that we were unable to do a better job as hosts during your stay, and have taken the unusual step of sending you a full refund for the entire amount. The baby noise in particular was a one-off; we do not usually have young children or babies staying with us. We will also consider how to best explain the "separate entrance" in the description. The idea is that you don't have to go through the rest of the house to get to your room. That said, we do feel as if you were expecting more of a hotel experience, and we would take this opportunity to communicate with potential guests, particularly those whose experience with Airbnb may be limited. While some Airbnb hosts and properties are solely devoted to their guests, many are more casual in the sense that you are staying with a family who are living their day-to-day lives while hosting. We are definitely in the latter category. If you are looking for totally private and super quiet space, staying with a family in a convenient part of Honolulu is not the way to go. A hotel might be the ticket. We offer superb value for money, but we are definitely not a hotel.

I was in the area for a conference at the Manoa campus and the location was perfect for me. Hiroko and Brendon were great hosts, interesting to talk with and generous with their hospitality. The room is small, and not in the center of tourist activities, so just a couple of thi…

Awesome location! Honestly everything was close by and even to go to the north shore you have to be on the east side of the island. Not really any traffic around the house even to go to the store safeway and a few places to eat is a 10 minute walking distance if you don't have a …

Aloha! I'm from Japan and my husband is from South Carolina. Hawaii is about halfway, so it's perfect for our family. Japan, the Old South, and Hawaii all have their own hospitality traditions, but our home is one of the few places you can experience all three in one place! We…
