The space
This small, non-oceanview, first floor single room is located within our historic Main House. It has a single Double bed and a tub/shower combination. 1 person limit recommended due to size, but 2 allowed--- perfect for people who are traveling light and planning on spending most of their time exploring. No A/C, not pet friendly.
This room is 15' x 9', and is SMALL, hence the price and 1 person reccomended limit.

Guest access
All guests have access to our Main Inns lobby and den, our private beach with grills/lawn furniture/fire pits, and our wine and cheese nights in season.
All guests also have access to our office's mini fridge, and coffee.
We do have wifi, with the signal strength being strongest in the living room (buildings made in 1765 aren't the most wifi friendly!). There is also a TV in the living room for anyone to use.

Other things to note
This room is located in the historic Main Inn which was built in 1765. This means the building and our accomodations are in fact old. This is also a room, and not a suite. This room is only 15' x 9' and is SMALL, hence the 1 person reccomended limit and price--- the main room picture is indicative of size. Keep that in mind, as the odds of us having a larger room to move guests into should they need more space on arrival is unlikely, and will not be the same price during peak season (July - October).

Our rooms within the Main Inn do not have a TV in the room unless stated in the room description as we like to have our rooms focus on the beauty of our one of a kind view-- though there is a TV in the Main House living room for anyone to use.
All guests staying in the Main House that do not have a fridge in their room have access to our office mini fridge.
We do have wifi, with signal strength being strongest in the living room (buildings made in 1765 aren't wifi friendly!).

If you are checking late, the front door is ALWAYS unlocked since we have a live-in nightwatchman. Do not knock, just walk in!
All rooms have their own locks and keys, as well as baseboard heat with a thermostat on the wall.

The Moorings Inn is a locally owned, ocean-side, historic Inn with a rich history dating back to 1765. Located at the base of Somes Sound on Mount Desert Island, you can see all of the mountains of Acadia with clear views of the sunrise and sunset just from our backyard. We pride ourselves in our history, uniqueness, and this property's ability to make you disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! We offer wine & cheese nights in season for our guests-- to be enjoyed indoors or on our private beach! There is also a boat rental service on-site (Mansell Boat) that guests have priority for should they want a captained charter or to cruise around the island solo. Our location on the edge of Manset bay keeps our weather windy and cool, so we have no a/c in any units. Our Inn was built to be a personal house in 1765, and was turned into an Inn in 1916--- but has never lost its feel of a home! To respect its history, our Inn is filled with antiques, nautical themes, and many ship models. As with many historic Inns, the few families that have owned these buildings have worked hard to keep them as original and unique as possible--- so we are by no means modern-day chic, but are a unique boutique! Go to our website (mooringsinn) to check out more pictures of our Inn and grounds! We are located on 133 Shore Road, Southwest Harbor, ME.

During your stay
The Moorings Inn was originally built in 1765 by a Dutch sailmaker, Andrew Tucker, as his family's personal house. It has operated as a bed and breakfast since 1916. We take pride in the historical significance of this property, as it is one of the oldest buildings in the state operating as an Inn. We are a unique boutique, NOT modern chic! The few owners and families that have owned this property have worked hard to keep this building as unique, preserved, and different from most anything you'll come across!

Our property is right on the ocean, which keeps our weather mild and fairly windy all summer. Due to this, like most places on MDI: WE DO NOT HAVE AIR CONDITIONING IN ANY UNITS-- however there are fans available in the rooms on the occasion they are needed.
Our Inn focuses on the beauty of our one of a kind view, so most rooms do not have a TV. All cottages have a TV.
We have boat rental business on-site, which offer power or sailboat rentals as well as captained charters.
Our Manager/Nightwatchman lives on-site and is reachable at all hours by his number posted on and around the office. Should you need anything or need assistance, PLEASE contact him if there is no one at the desk!!
