Cosy, clean and comfortable, Clough Head Cottage is a perfect place to relax after a day's walking, cycling or sightseeing in the beautiful White Peak region of the Peak District National Park.
A tranquil haven close to many outstanding attractions.
A traditional Peak District stone cottage, part of our farmhouse, but self-contained and private. Sitting room, kitchen/diner, utility, bath/shower room and two bedrooms (one king-size double, one with single bed and single futon - this is quite narrow for an adult and goes alongside the single bed when needed). We have a cot available if you require one. The sitting room is equipped with satellite TV, sound system, games chest, books and local maps, CDs and DVDs. The kitchen has everything for your needs - cooker, microwave, toaster, and is fully equipped. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk are provided to welcome you. There is a utility room with sink and dishwasher, space for coats, muddy boots etc, and clothes can be dried in front of the boiler fan. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are included, as is free broadband wifi. You can charge devices using built-in points in the sitting room and bedroom.
A welcome pack is available if ordered in advance, including bread, milk, eggs, bacon, butter, marmalade, cereals, yoghurt and fruit, for a cost of £25.
We have off-street parking for several vehicles and have lockable bicycle storage. The cottage has its own front door and a private garden with table and chairs and stunning views across to Chrome Hill and Hollins Hill. There is a barbecue for your use - but please bring charcoal ;-). Feel free to walk, play or picnic in our three acre field with stream, where there are plenty of wild flowers in season.
Interaction with guests
Helen and Alick are on hand and happy to help with any information or requests that you have. We can advise and supply maps for walking and cycling routes, many of which begin from the cottage front door.
Other things to note
At Clough Head we try to be as green as we can. The house and cottage uses solar and biomass energy. We recycle as much as possible, use eco cleaning products and grow our own fruit and vegetables. We encourage the local wildlife and we hope you will enjoy the beautiful wild flower meadow and our trees. Many species of birds come to feed and you can enjoy the swallows and house martins swooping overhead and listen to the calls of the garden birds and those on the adjacent moorland. Our chickens are very sociable, and, if you like, you can help us feed our two Alpacas.
The biomass boiler will need daily feeding (we are happy to do this for you if you don't want to) and we may need to come in to clean it during your stay. The boiler gets hot (!) and a fire guard is provided, but young children may need supervising. Also please note that the stairs are open tread. This is a rural spot off the beaten track: mobile signal is patchy. You are welcome to arrange a supermarket delivery - please check with us if you want us to receive it.
There is a minimum night stay in some periods - it may be possible to take shorter length last minute bookings: please contact us.
We want you to enjoy the cottage as your own home, but please look after it accordingly!
No smoking please. Sorry, no pets.
