This private timber-framed guesthouse is a stone's throw from Seymour Lake and a ten minute drive from downtown Smithers. It has beautiful wood furnishings, a king-sized bed, a fully-stocked kitchen, and is situated on a large forested property.

Our place is perfect for couples looking to get away; fishers, hunters, and skiers searching for a home base; and travellers wanting to experience the British Columbian wilderness.

The space
Our 600-square-foot guesthouse is a perfect place to relax for couples and small groups. It includes a living room, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a double headed shower along with a guest washer and dryer, and a wood table for dining. Two beds are available: a luxurious king-sized bed in the upstairs loft and a pullout double bed in the living space. The open loft concept means there is lot of natural light and no distinct sleeping rooms. Heating is your choice of electric baseboard or a cozy wood stove.

The guesthouse is surrounded by a large forested property with many trails to walk, snowshoe, and cross country ski. The guesthouse shares a small gravel beach on Seymour Lake with the main house where you can find a small electric sauna and a canoe – both are yours to use.

Guest access
You have access to the full guesthouse and are free to come and go as you please using a private drive. A long-term rental cabin is 50 metres away but is separated from the guesthouse by trees and a large barn ensuring your privacy during your stay.

Other things to note
Free wifi is provided but it is not equipped for streaming or other high bandwith usage. Most cellphone carriers get good coverage in our location.

We have animals on our property – both wild and domesticated. You might see a moose or meet the family dog while walking the property’s trails. Our dog is very friendly and will become your best friend if you throw a ball for him.

The stairs to the loft where the main bed are quite steep. It is not suited for people with mobility concerns and children under the age of 10.

Unfortunately, we do not provide breakfast to guests. We’re happy to give you a list of kitchen equipment to help you plan your stay before you arrive.

Our driveway is one kilometre of gravel and dirt. During the winter it gets ploughed semi-regularly, but it is by no means an officially maintained road. Notify us before your arrival if you have limited experience with winter driving or any concerns about rural driving.

Hi travellers. My husband Bill and I have lived in Smithers for 28 years. We came to the valley as young treeplanters and we were lucky enough to be able work and raise our family here. This property was managed prior to 2018 by our son Eric. Now that we are newly retired, Bill and I are excited to share our beautiful property with like minded visitors who wish to get away from the maddening crowd. Bill and I look forward to meeting you.
