Come and enjoy the quiet of our private cottage suite. Our property is canopied by native oak trees and is a natural sanctuary for all sorts of birds and small wildlife.

The space

We are elevated above the road below and enjoy complete privacy on three sides with beautiful views of the Santa Lucia Mountains.

Our guest suite has a private entrance with your own parking space right in front. It has a large living room and a very sweet bedroom, both of which are adjoined to the main house but are entirely private. The bathroom is a mere 12 steps outdoors from your room and around the corner, located in the main house but completely private for your use only. Just outside your back door is your private Garden Terrace - a perfect place to enjoy your complimentary bottle of wine in the evening, or your complimentary Keurig coffee in the morning!

We are located right in the heart of Carmel Valley Village and its 25 wine tasting rooms, gourmet restaurants, and magnificent beauty. There is access to Garland Regional Park, literally right across the street, and its miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. Also, in mid Carmel Valley is the fabulous Refuge Spa, as part of the Carmel Valley Athletic Club.

Plus, we're close to just about everything on the Monterey Peninsula: 15 minutes to Carmel-by-the-Sea; 20 minutes to Pebble Beach; 25 minutes to Old Monterey, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Cannery Row; 30 minutes to Pacific Grove; 15 minutes to Laguna Seca Raceway; and 25 minutes to Point Lobos and the headlands of magnificent Big Sur. There is even a public bus stop right here in the Village.

It's hard to think of the Monterey Peninsula without conjuring up images of the famous golf courses like Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Cypress Point. Then there are the fabulous courses just up the road from us, including Carmel Valley Ranch and Quail Lodge. Plus, there are many more in the general area (and some are incredibly reasonable to play!).

We've lived in the our home here in the Village for 14 years now and love it more every year. We're sure you'll enjoy your stay with us and look forward to helping you make the most of your visit. We can be flexible in accommodating your needs to make your visit as perfect as possible - so please ask what we can do for you!

If you would like a longer stay with us, our weekly and monthly rates are steeply discounted to make for a real bargain!

Words and pictures cannot accurately describe how special Bill's place is. The outdoor area is something out of a fairytale and the cottage is super clean and very charming. Bill has thought of everything that you need and is a wonderful host. He made great suggestions and made sure that we were always comfortable.

Bill and his wife were both lovely, easy to communicate with and really made us feel at home. The pictures really don't do this place justice, the garden is nothing short of magical and even includes a hot tub. The place itself it gorgeous located in a a charming spot. Would very highly recommend to anyone exploring California.

My partner and I were privileged to stay at Bill's for a couple of nights in August. We felt right at home as Bill welcomed us and toured us around the facility, even providing us with a map of Big Sur, a list of recommendations for food and activities, and even a complimentary bottle of wine. The lodgings were as depicted and offers Netflix, wifi, and Keurig coffee. We had access to the hot tub and his backyard which was great for winding down at night. Bill also was on call for us and always quick to respond. Would definitely visit again, thanks Bill.

Bill's house was a relaxing escape from reality in the woods. His garden areas are so impressive and creative - I spent most of my time sitting in every chair to make sure I enjoyed the views and plants from all angles. He was a great host, showing us all the details of the house upon our arrival and then letting us enjoy the space. Carmel Valley is such an adorable town too with probably the best meals I have ever had. Overall a very pleasant surprise!

One of my best airbnb stays. Bill is extremely hospitable and made sure that my friend and I were comfortable. He was very responsive to messages before the trip and made himself available to welcome us. He genuinely took an interest in our stay and provided a lot of information about the local area so that we could get the most out of the weekend. The house was very well maintained. It is rustic and cozy in style, and was very clean. I'm picky about cleanliness, and there wasn't anything that I'd even quibble about. The bed is comfortable and the sheets were very soft. I really liked that the quality of the furniture and bathroom fixtures is very good. The highlight of the space is the backyard, which is a shared space but was left to us exclusively for the weekend. It's an extremely well landscaped area, with lots of nooks where you can sit and read a book and even doze off in the afternoon. It also has a bathtub that you can use at any time. My friend and I weren't inconvenienced by having the bathroom separate from the house. The other benefits of this place outweigh that aspect for me.

I've been retired now for about four years. My last profession was as an RN at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Prior to that I spent over twenty years in the food service industry and dabbled in a number of other things. My wife, Sue, is a nursing school instructor at the Monterey Peninsula College and a Nurse Practitioner. Our son Cole is in eighth grade at Carmel Middle School.
We've lived in the Monterey area for almost twenty years now and bought our wonderful home in Carmel Valley in 2003. We've been remodeling it ever since and are very proud of what we've accomplished - with the outdoor spaces being natural extensions of the indoor living areas.
As lovers of fine places to live and visit, we have a good sense of what makes for memorable times while away from home. We love gourmet food and wine, the beauty and inspiration of nature, and generally enjoy "the good life". Carmel Valley is where we have settled because we can't think of anywhere else that offers such a perfect combination of weather, beauty, amenities and proximity to all we love.
