Stay in our cozy, light-filled upstairs apartment on the river in River West! Enjoy our beautiful backyard with fire pit and access to the river. Convenient transit access to Brady Street and Downtown (and a mere 10-minute drive by car).

The space

We've furnished this apartment with vintage treasures to make you feel at home. It's lo-fi, so don't expect TV. Do expect great records, books, and plan to enjoy a cocktail at night, and good granola and coffee in the morning.

There is a large bedroom with queen sized bed. The living room couch converts to another queen sized bed. We have just finished the second bedroom - it's got crazy roof angles and a ton of natural light through four skylights. The apartment can cozily accommodate 4-5 people. It's only about 750 square feet, so keep that in mind.

Laundry is available in the common basement area, and is free.

Guest access

You have the entire upper apartment to yourself for your stay, which includes a full kitchen, private bathroom, and separate entrance/exit. You're also welcome to spend time in the backyard. We have a kayak and a canoe for you to use if you'd like to spend time on the river. We also can loan you the use of our bikes, including our tandem.

Interaction with guests

We are a less than 10 minute drive if anything comes up, and readily available via phone or Airbnb messeges. Once we know you're settled and happy, we'll leave you to explore and enjoy.

Other things to note

Please lock your car at night, and remove valuable items, as a common sense precaution.

When you choose to stay in our home, you understand that you're booking a stay in a 100-year-old home. It will be clean, the beds will be comfortable, and it will be a good value, but if you're looking for brand-new and luxurious, you've got the wrong place, try elsewhere.

You also understand that you are booking in a neighborhood that is racially and economically diverse. Our immediate surrounding residences are primarily apartment buildings; we are one of two original houses on the cul-de-sac. Please be sure you've read through location information thoroughly so there are no misunderstandings. Racist reviews or comments will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Ask, ask, ask me any questions at all - I'll happily give you the neighborhood scoop!

No smoking anywhere inside, and within 25 feet of any entrance to the house. If you smoke anywhere on our property, please clean up after yourself - no cigarette butts on the ground.

No illegal drug use or underage drinking. Please notify us first if you intend to have guests over who aren't a part of your traveling party.

Keep noise levels reasonable at night if you are outside, and absolutely no loud parties or gatherings outside after 10 pm. 10 pm quiet rules apply indoors, as well - it is an old house and sound carries.

Please do your best to treat our furniture and furnishings carefully, as they've been lovingly selected to make the space special. If something breaks (we understand that accidents happen), please let us know, so we can fix it, or replace it as soon as we can.

And enjoy your stay!!!

This spot was great-very clean, everything needed was supplied and we thought the decor was cool! We turned the bedroom fan off and the breeze from the window was perfect. Loved how thorough the guidebook was as well. We went to Milwaukee just for a baseball game and never would have found the restaurants and coffee spots that were recommended! Wished we could have had time to explore by the water, but that's down to our timing, not the booking itself. Great first experience with Airbnb.

Super central spot for us to bike around the city. Conveniently between the river bike trail and surface routes downtown. Very cute decor, easy to find, easy to communicate, would definitely stay again.

Anna's place was exactly what we expected based on info given. We loved being close to downtown with a perfect vintage hobbit house to stay in. We enjoyed the record options and felt very welcome. There was a great list of near by restaurants, bars, and other activities that helped us choose where to go. Check in and Check out was a breeze. I would recommend this location to anyone. We only used one bed, but there was a second room and a couple futon beds.

Everything was just as Anna advertised and the process couldn't have been smoother. Loved the thoughtful and authentic retro design. Especially appreciated Anna's book of recommended restaurants and attractions. We tried out several of her suggestions and all were great!

Everything was just as pictured/described on the listing, and Anna made my stay easy and unstressful, responding to my questions promptly. I wish I would've had time for a bit of exploration of the neighborhood and park, but my trainings didn't allow time for that. I loved the record player and took advantage of the eclectic selection of vinyl when I returned each evening. I hope to stay at the apartment the next time I have a training in the area; it was a a just-right home away from home. :)

Anna's place is cozy and fully outfitted with authentic vintage decor. I had everything I needed and Anna was quick to put the AC units back in for the unexpected 90 F weather in late Sept. The back yard feels nice and secluded, surrounded by trees with a river ti overlook.
