Sala Silvergruva is 36 minutes drive away is a visitor mine with one of the world's best preserved mining environments. Here you are met by dark winding mine tunnels, magnificent and water-filled rock chambers everything was broken with people's bare hands makes the impression even more impressive.
Sala silver mine is a silver deposit in Sala. The mine had three heyday: early 16th century, mid 17th century and late 19th century. During the best years of the 16th century, 3-5 tons of silver were produced per year and a total of more than 450 tons of silver and about 40,000 tons of lead were extracted. The depth of the mine was more than 300 meters, with a total length of resorts and rooms of over 20 km. Sala silver mine is thus by far the most important silver deposit in Sweden. Silver was important as a coin metal and the mine was, according to Charles IX, the most important Clenodium of the Kingdom.
Try the spectacular high-altitude course with cable cars, suspension bridges and other challenges at height or a guided tour down into the dark mine.
