Our house was originally built in 1910 and has been restored from top to bottom! We have a small hobby farm with chickens, goats, alpacas, and English mastiffs! Gwynn's Island is the perfect location for a getaway, with public beach and boat launch nearby.

The space

Our house has been completely restored by the previous owner and has only been lived in since December 2014. The previous owner had such a love for the property that they poured their heart and soul into the restoration. The barns on the property are the original existing structures from 1910 and we have converted them into use for our hobby farm to include: chickens, goats, alpacas, and English Mastiffs.

Sleeping arrangements: please note! The listing specifically says 4 adults. We can accommodate 5 adults but that means that the 5th person will have to sleep in the twin bed up in our daughter's room. The ad also specifically lists two queen beds so plan accordingly.

We, the homeowners will be staying on- site in the guest cottage which is on the same property. Homeowners will have access to mudroom/laundry room and garage. Please keep the door between the mud room and the kitchen closed at all times unless you are using the laundry facilities.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire house minus the mud room/laundry room, as well as the garage. There are four bedrooms; a master suite downstairs, guest room on the third floor, and two childrens rooms. There are two queen beds and the children's rooms have either a twin bed or toddler bed only. Guests will be asked not to use the room between the kitchen and garage unless they need to use the laundry facilities. Please also keep the door closed between the kitchen and the mud room. We also ask that the guests do not access our closet or attic storage spaces. If there are any locked doors please respect those as this is our primary residence.

There is a small public beach less than a mile away from the house, as well as a public access point for boats less than two miles away on the island.

Interaction with guests

We love to meet new people, but try and limit our interaction with the guests as we realize that our guests are here to enjoy their vacation and time away.

Other things to note

We are pretty flexible about check in and check out times as long as it works out with our schedule. With this being said, if you plan a check-in prior to 3:00 pm it needs to be cleared with the homeowners and there needs to be communication the day of arrival.

Since we have children of our own we can also accommodate children in our house as we have plenty of toys and other things available to make your stay easier.

Please treat the house with respect as you would your own, as a lot of work and love has gone into making the house beautiful and special! Please do not use the mud room except for laundering and please keep the door between the laundry room and kitchen closed at all times. Please respect any locked doors. The cats are not allowed in the house so please be mindful of making sure the doors are not left open. Please do not use garage for parking unless weather is inclement in which case we understand.

Parking is available for all the guests but please leave space for the homeowners to park as well.

Please do not set the thermostat any lower than 72 degrees.

No smoking on the property and no pets allowed.

Remove any garbage and place in the trash cans in the garage. If trash can is full please place garbage next to the trash cans.

Please do not use the flood lights in the front of the house. The switch for the floodlights is labeled.

No guest use of the fireplace.

We had a great stay at this lovely home on Gwynn Island. The house was very tidy, roomy and clean. The owners made our stay very comfortable. We wish could have enjoyed more time over a cup of coffee on their peaceful front porch. We'd definitely go back.

What a fun place to stay! We wanted to be close to the water (beach is less than a mile away), but stay in a quiet area. The house is quite roomy and well-appointed. Scott, our host, was incredibly accommodating and helpful! The farm animals (chickens, fainting goats, geese, pigs, guinea fowl) and dogs were fun to watch. Front porch is spectacular for morning coffee or evening chats. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
