One bedroom private suite with full bathroom on the back of an adorable, well appointed 1949 house in north Seattle. Quiet residential street, only a couple blocks to Fred Meyer, bars, restaurants, parks and express bus lines to anywhere in the area.
Very private, quiet master suite with a queen bed and a large full bathroom (including tub and shower) on the back of my Mid-Century Modern home. The space has three windows and gets natural light and fresh air that guests can control with curtains and shades. There are live plants, often fresh flowers and a desk with office supplies, a nightstand, lamps, a bench and ample closet space. The bed is very comfortable with a semi-firm memory foam mattress and appointed with fresh comfortable linens, pillows and extra blankets, if needed, are in the closet. The bedroom is carpeted. There is an electric kettle for hot water, coffee and selection of teas, as well as a few snacks, instant oatmeal and sometimes fresh fruit. I have recently added a small microwave and refrigerator to the room for storing and reheating leftovers, continental breakfast in your room or that cookies and milk treat at the end of the night. There are cloth napkins, two place settings of dishes and flatware as well as amenities to wash and dry them.
The house is on a large corner lot with a big surrounding yard. During the warmer / drier months (May - October) the patio is semi-private with a table, chairs and umbrella - lovely for al fresco dining or drinks. There is a good-sized, semi-private backyard with a small table and chairs, as well as a nice hammock with a sun umbrella. It is quiet and pleasant back there.
Interaction with guests
I am around a lot, especially weekday evenings and weekends doing house work and out in the yard. I am practically a Seattle native and it is my very favorite place in the whole world. I love to offer suggestions on things to do and see and would be available to help guests plan and organize their visit. I love to meet new people and am often up for some drinks, food or conversation, if the occasion arises, but like the guests to make the call on how social they'd like to be.
I'm a single woman whose interests include music, travel, the outdoors, the arts, entertaining, cooking and socializing.
When requesting a reservation, please let me know a little about you, what brings you to Seattle and things you are interested in during your stay.
Other things to note
There are two indoor-only cats living at the house. PLEASE, no matter how cute they look - DO NOT let them outside or into the garage! They are really never in the guest suite, but have full access to the rest of the house. One is quite shy, but sometimes surprises everyone by making an appearance when strangers are around - Watts. Pollock is the older one and he is more welcoming and friendly and most people are able to see and interact with him if they choose. Both are very sweet and calm. Pollock, especially, may wish to wander in to the guest suite, please keep the door closed to prevent him from making himself at home on your luggage and / or getting locked in there! :)
This is an eco-conscious house and Seattle has very strict laws in terms of recycling, garbage and composting. Please dispose of everything properly and be conservative with your water and electricity usage.
The house has a security system that stays on when nobody is here.
**Due to my demanding work schedule, it is VERY rare that I can accommodate pre-5pm check-ins Sunday - Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays I am a little more flexible. Please let me know if you have extenuating circumstances.
Please note that if you have checked luggage, are renting a vehicle, taking public transportation or arriving during rush hour or the weekend or holiday, it will take at least an hour for you to get from Sea-Tac airport to my house. It is about 19 miles and takes 30 minutes with no traffic.
PLEASE leave me a review after your stay! Improvements to my guest suite are made often and come directly from feedback. More reviews means more guests, means more info, means more improvements! I ALWAYS review my guests.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: TWO GUESTS. You MUST tell me who the second guest is when you make the reservation.
The expectation is that guests will be respectful of the house and all the things living in it. Please realize you are being hosted in a private home. Relative quiet is appreciated after 10pm. Care of space as it were your own is requested.
Absolutely no pets, smokers / smoking (of ANY kind), weapons of ANY kind (guns, knives, etc.) or illegal substances anywhere on the property.
My priority is the safety of myself and my guests as well as the security of my home. All guests must agree to use the home alarm system (very easy, I will show you upon arrival), keep ground-level windows closed when not there and use key to lock the deadbolt on the door from outside when leaving so that both locks on the door are locked.
Due to the house and it's pipes being old I must require that everyone agree to ONLY flushing toilet paper down the toilet.
My age minimum is 25 years old, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian and / or by pre-approval.
Please, if there are two people staying that you let me know who the other person is. In certain circumstances (i.e. long stays), I may require verification of the second guest. Thanks!
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.
I moved back to my house and home in Seattle in late spring of 2015 after three years in the Bay area of California. I've enjoyed (and still am) getting my yard back in shape and settling back into my wonderful home. I fixed up my guest suite, so I decided it would be fun to be an Airbnb host. I listed for a spring / summer season and it was great meeting new people and telling them about Seattle. After taking a break from hosting so a friend could live with me temporarily, I am ready to open my home to visitors once again. One of my cats, Pollock, has been especially excited about all the extra attention and is becoming quite the host himself!
I'm a longtime huge music fan and spend a lot of time (and money!) on shows and try to keep up with my 20 year old self. I enjoy traveling, film, art, gardening, entertaining and drooling over / collecting mid-century modern anything!
My home was built in 1949 and I like to maintain some of that era throughout it. I have eclectic taste and am constantly evoking and changing my space. I try to imagine a room where I would comfortable in while staying with a stranger and attempt to create a peaceful, welcoming, private suite for my guests. Small touches like open windows for fresh air, filtered cool water, fresh flowers and live plants, and things to read, look at and contemplate all add to the feeling and ambiance of the space.
