About this listing

Apartment nicknamed by our friends. Close to centrum, next to Linnanmäki amusement park. Easy to come from railway stations, harbours or airport. Views to park, tram station next door. Bathroom & living areas renovated. As a bonus, you'll have great hosts! Free WiFi and bikes to use.

The space

Château Alppila - the nick name of our place given our friends. We love it and it is our castle. Not too big, just 40m2, but well designed and decorated by Jonna, my girlfriend and an architect.

The apartment is renovated 2014 with a lot of nice details, such as the sliding door, and excellent view to the park. The kitchen is fully functional with a mocha pot, water boiler and blender. You can do laundry if needed.

Guest room is normally a dining area, but it can be converted into a room with a bed Double door and sliding door ensures the privacy when needed. The room is not big, but comfortable.

Please note that we live there (most likely) during your visit: we have our sleeping space in the alcove of our living room.

There is a small library, mostly about art, design and architecture. Some novels. Feel free to read :)

Jonna is interested in collecting and selling antiques & design, so items in our apartment changes constantly.

If we are away, it might be possible to rent the whole place and four person sleeping is possible. Ask for details.

All rooms in the apartment can be used. We sleep on the alcove, but there is a direct entrance to your room from the entrance (and to the kitchen & bathroom). You will have your own key, so you can come and go with your own schedule.

We are happy to meet you and show you around. If you have any questions about the Helsinki or surrounding areas, feel free to ask. We have good knowledge of what is happening in Helsinki, and if you are interested in specific events or venues, we most likely can help with that.

We are easy to get along, but understand the need of privacy as well.

Next to Sea Life, Linnanmäki, Helsinki Hall of Culture And the bars of Kallio. We have a view to a park and the apartment is on a quiet street with very light traffic. Good routes for jogging and one outdoor and indoor swimming pool nearby.

10min by bike to centrum, 30min by walking. Tram station practically on a front door (on the other side of the building). Easy to get from Central Railway station, Pasila Railway station, Länsisatama, Bus station and from Helsinki Airport.

Free parking on front door on weekends, some free parking for 24h close by but usually occupied. 10min walking for free parking, but it can be hard to find an empty slot at times.

Washing machine is free to use if needed and we have a hairdryer.

Kitchen is free to use as long as dishes are done.

Oskari has connections to Fiskars and Porvoo, so if you are interested visiting these locations nearby Helsinki, ask details.

Other things to note

Washing machine is free to use if needed.

Kitchen is free to use as long as dishes are done.

Please note that we don't have a TV. But who needs one when you have Helsinki to see!

Oskari has connections to Fiskars and Porvoo, so if you are interested visiting these locations nearby Helsinki, ask details.

Oskari was really flexible, and super helpful with advices. we felt almost at home in their beautifully designed cosy place. having his bikes was also a great help. Oskari & Jonna are the best hosts. they didn't just came to see our film at the festival but also gave us a bottle from their delicious, self made craft beer.

Jonna picked us up from the tram stop. She was very friendly and took the time to tell us everything we wanted to know. Then, she disappeared for the remainder of our stay to give us more privacy. However, she ensured that we could still call her for help in case of emergency. Fortunately, we didn't need that. :-) Everything was as advertised and we had a great stay in Helsinki. The bed is a kitchen table, but it worked well for us. The appartment is very efficient. Thanks, Oskari and Jonna!

Oskari User ProfileOskari is a superhost.

From Finland, I'm studying international business and I run a cafe in Fiskars, a village with full of artists, designers, architects, musicians etc. I love to travel, around 50 countries visited and more to come. Lived twice abroad as an exchange student, planning to move on another country within a few years.

Far too many hobbies varying from photography to scuba diving, sailing to wines, few to mention.

I'm quite relaxed guy who's not too picky but expect visitings to be interesting. To mention extremes, I have lived a month in a equivivalent of a fishing hut in Indonesia while doing my Dive Master course and stayed in a five star hotel in Dublin, enjoyed both. I love to try new dishes, with practically one exception: I dont eat shark meat. I've a deal with sharks, I dont eat them, they dont eat me. So far so good.

I try to put my life around respect and experiences:

Respect Nature
Respect Generations to come
Respect People
Enjoy life
