Where you’ll be

Robe, South Australia, Australia

The Coach House is a wonderfully rustic and rural getaway with the amenities of historic Robe 7km away. Our favourite activities in Robe include swimming or stand up paddle boarding to the raft at Town Beach (enquire at the local surf shop to hire). Another favourite is driving along Long Beach to surf/body surf then retreating to the warm car! 4WD and fishing on the more rugged southern coastline is also a popular pastime in Robe. There is a fabulous, scenic cliff top walk beginning at Long Beach, passing Fox's Beach, the Outlet, Hooper's Beach, Town Beach (via caravan park) past the Norfolk pines to the boat harbour, around the edge of the harbour via the boardwalk to the boat ramp. The path continues up towards the Obelisk via the coast then past the Old Gaol ruins. Continue on the limestone trail over the dunes and cliffs to the lighthouse and wonderful, wild West Beach. Return to town past the golf course and historic sites via many cafes/pubs/shops/galleries to the beginning! Our favourite place for coffee, breakfast or lunch is Drift or The Adventurous Spoon. The Union Cafe, and the Marina Cafe all serve great food and coffee.
On Flint St is Mahalia's Coffee roasting house which is well worth a visit to enjoy the coffee (roasted on the premises) and gift shop.
For a casual dinner, the Pizza Project is friendly and great value, whilst the Caledonian and Robe Hotels serve good Pub food.
For a fine dining experience, 'Sails' are very well established and 'Indulge' has a reputation for great food. These restaurants may require booking in advance.
Sky Seafoods on Robe St are the go to place to buy Crayfish and seafood.
There are many wineries in the Mount Benson, Limestone Coast and Coonawarra regions. Cape Jaffa Wines have a great cellar door selection and is a lovely destination if it isn't beach weather. Robe's local bottle shop, Cellarbrations, stock a great selection of local wine. There is also a local craft beer brewery on the main road into town.
In winter, stoke up the wood burning fire in the Coach House whilst enjoying a glass of wine from the Limestone Coast or Coonawarra.
The local supermarket stocks most items and has a good range of local produce.
