This charming island cottage is an ideal base for visitors to explore the Scottish Outer Hebrides. Wifi and freeview tv, stove and rustic appeal - this house is ideal for up to 2 people. + loft accommodation for two. Your host Niall is an islander born and bred - welcome!

The space
Taigh Neill is situated in the centre of the beautiful island of Benbecula and offers easy access to both the multitude of stunning beaches on the West side of the Island and the many moorland walks through the hills and mountains to the wildlife abundant rugged shores of the East side.

This thatched cottage, originally built in 1880, has recently been renovated and offers a high standard of extremely comfortable self catering accommodation full of rustic charm, including a peat burning stove, combined with the modern facilities required for your stay.

Ideally located to explore the neighbouring Islands, Taigh Neill is just a short drive from the islands of South Uist, Eriskay and the ferry port to Barra, all of which were featured in the most recent series of the popular BBC documentary ‘An Island Parish’. Alternatively drive North and explore the vast empty beaches and breathtaking scenery of North Uist and Berneray.

Regardless of where you decide to go in the Uists, you will be sure to be impressed by the abundance of wildlife including birds such as the hen-harrier, the illusive corncrake and the majestic sea eagle, or take a walk along the sandy machairs and be astounded by the diverse variety of scented wild flowers which carpet the land.

For the more adventurous visitor, take a boat- trip around the west coast and get a closer look at the hundreds of sea birds and seals which make their home on the surrounding coast-line. A rare treat is the otter which can be seen swimming and hunting around the shallow bays or basking in the sun on the seaweed covered rocks.

Whatever your reason for visiting the Islands, Taigh Neill is an ideal place to come home to at the end of your day.

Guest access
Full access to the entire cottage, ample car parking outside.
