The Cure is a residential area of Florence , situated immediately north of the historic center .

In ancient times, this area north of the Porta San Gallo was open countryside and only in the nineteenth century was highly urbanized . In Piazza delle Cure was one of the many barriers of duty for those who arrived in the city. The zone name is derived from " curandaie " , an ancient name for the washerwomen, who were also abbreviated as "cures" and rinsed clothes in Mugnone . What 's " curandaio " was in fact an ancient craft in the production of linen, which consisted of " cure" the washing of the pieces until they lose their roughness and the yellowish color to get a whiter color and morbidity . Once the need to " cure" the paintings curandaio the name was simply as a synonym for fuller , especially being that women were said curandaie .

Giuseppe Poggi designed with attention to this part of town , especially in the most pleasing of the slopes of the hills of Fiesole and along the shore of the Mugnone , where Boccaccio , in this part of the city, the setting for the famous novel by the heliotrope and Calandrino . From Piazza delle Cure started the first line of omnibus town, which , from Freedom Square , arrived in Piazza della Signoria .

The area was disrupted by the cutting of the railway station of Florence Campo di Marte , with the construction in 1914 of the overpass that connects the boulevard Don Minzoni with the square. The subway dates back to the seventies of the twentieth century ; today it is one of the busiest places in Florence for graffiti and street art in the square a market is held daily .

its surroundings you can reach Fiesole very well.

And 'possible to watch movies in 3-D with the bluray and the smart TV.

The proximity to the bus stop is super convenient. Just make sure you look at the little box on the pole so you know when the bus arrives (it's 24hr clock). It's a short walk to a grocery store too. I enjoyed the kitchen quite a bit. It's nice to cook your own meals and save some…
