Breakfast
This is one of a few places in the area that has this feature.
Del Mar is situated in a rural location, 5 minutes drive from Dornoch. It overlooks farm fields, the Dornoch Firth and the Moray Hills beyond. The room is spacious with a king sized bed and a single. Continental breakfast is served in the dining room.

The road from Dornoch up to our house is not suitable for walking. There is no pedestrian pavement and the traffic on the road tends to be quite fast. There are taxis available and we are happy to pick guests up from Dornoch in their arrival.

The space
The bedroom is spacious and comfortable with a large en suite with an excellent shower. You will find that it is quiet and peaceful. The dining area is at one end of the large living room, and has delightful views of the garden.

In the bedroom are tea and coffee making facilities, and a tin of biscuits in case you are hungry after a long journey.

Guest access
We don't have a separate sitting room for guests, but on a good day you are welcome to use our garden, either in front or at the back, and relax there.

Other things to note
We are now only serving a continental breakfast which will consist of a varied choice of rolls, croissants, cheeses, cooked meats, hot or cold boiled eggs along with a good variety of cereals, plus yogurt, fresh fruit salad made every day, toast, home made marmalade and jam, and of course coffee or tea (a choice here too!).

The rural setting is what often attracts guests to our B&B, and yet it is close to the attractions of Dornoch with its pubs, restaurants and tourist amenities. The beach is award winning, long and sandy, and the small but interesting cathedral is a must to visit. This is a good area to stop in for a few days and visit the Highlands as you can travel north, west and south to visit castles, museums, beaches, golf courses and still return to Dornoch on the same day.

I am Canadian born (Nova Scotia) but have lived in Britain for many years, the last 28 of these in Scotland. Here I feel at home as my parents were Scots who emigrated to Canada in 1939. I am interested most in music, both Classical and traditional fiddle, and play in a ceilidh band (for dances) plus a chamber orchestra. My husband (who is Scottish) and I like doing B&B as we meet people from all over the world.
