We are very lucky to have some great wildlife around us. The dawn chorus is sometimes loud (birds calling). The bush hut is one of two huts we have joined by a large deck. It is a lovely rustic A frame. Basic kitchen: fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and shared barbque. We can lend you additional kitchenware you might need, just ask. There is a shared pool and a nice big bath in the hut to soak in. we have just planted a veg and herb garden which we are happy to share with our guests.

The space
The hut is open plan on the main floor with a QS bed and lounge/single bed. There is a single mattress in the loft, accessed via a near-vertical ladder. The bathroom adjoins the main area with shower-over-bath, toilet etc. There is a nice little reading nook and some books so you can relax in comfort. The deck that adjoins this and the beach hut is spacious with a table and chairs and two hammocks.
There is also heaps of yard space to put a hammock or chair under a tree and read a book or observe the wildlife.

Guest access
You have access to the entire hut and shared deck. The beach is only 72m away down a private track. The main access to the hut is via Warboys Street.

Other things to note
We can lend you snorkelling gear and direct you to the best spots.

Location

Nelly Bay, Queensland, Australia

This is a very quiet part of the island except for the birds which can get a bit noisy at times. You may get a visit from our possums and you will always hear from our resident curlews and scrub fowl.

I have lived here on Magnetic Island for the past 26 years with my wife Libby, and this is where we have raised our 3 kids. I am a maritime archaeologist and Libby is a marine biologist, and we love the island for its wildlife and world-heritage values. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise with you soon.

The hut is separate from the main house. My wife and I live in the house near by and are available 24/7. If we are not there you can call us and we will assist you with info about the island or the hut and we can get our neighbours to assist if required. We have the best neighbours.
We are a diving family with > 30 years experience and are more than happy to talk local dive spots including Yongala. You can take a boat from the dive shop down the road to the wreck of Yongala and the Reef.
