A stylish, spacious, light, recently re-decorated double room in the heart of vibrant, cool Jericho, with its cafes, pubs, restaurants and cinema. Close to bus and train stations. Near colleges, town centre, river, canal and beautiful Port Meadow.
This surprisingly light and spacious basement room is the ideal location for professionals, holiday makers or parents visiting their student daughter/son, looking for a comfortable, quiet place to stay whilst working or visiting Oxford.
A continental breakfast (home made bread and marmalade as well as pastries and fruit, tea and/or coffee) is included, as is wifi. There is a garden seating area with table and chairs available for use on sunny days. Parking permits are available for a fee of £5 a day or £20 per week. All towels and linen supplied.
The recently re-decorated room is furnished with interesting antiques to make a comfortable room which is cool and airy in the summer and warm and cosy when it gets colder.
I should mention that the steps down to the basement room are the original steps down to the old coal hole and so a little steep. Older people may find them challenging. Also, the ceiling is not quite usual ceiling height - but this should not be a problem unless you are unusually tall !
The extremely comfortable wooden bed with new memory foam mattress has a bedside light and non allergenic pillows. Bed linen is crisp, 100% cotton. There is a desk and chair, a comfortable chair for reading, a full length mirror (made from an antique Indian door frame) and a small wardrobe with space for hanging clothes.
There is a shower room next door with a toilet and hand basin.
Although no television is supplied, the complimentary wifi facilitates the use of accessing catch-up TV websites or applications. There is an ipod dock with speakers.
Guests will access the room through the house. The room is located downstairs from the living room. Continental breakfast will be served in the dining area.
Interaction with guests
I am always happy to answer questions or give any advice or help that I can.
I will be in touch with you about a week before your visit to make sure I am in when you arrive.
Arrival and departure times are flexible, unless I have back to back bookings - in which case I would ask you to arrive after 2.00pm and leave by around 10.30am. This is so that I can clean and prepare the room. I am happy for you to leave bags in the house if that is helpful.
This is a no smoking house.
Please don't eat in the room.
Any drinks should be placed on the tiles in order to protect the polished wood surfaces, please.
There will be a £10 charge for lost keys.
If you come in late at night, please be as quiet as possible. I will leave the hall light on but please turn it off.

I have recently returned to Oxford from living and working overseas for more years that I care to count ! I was most recently living in Malawi for three years. Before that I lived in Cambodia for sixteen years ! Prior to that in Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Venezuela, Tanzania, Morocco, Germany.
I am a teacher - of French (despite being English), and love all things French ! I am currently enjoying tutoring students for GCSEs, A levels and the IB Diploma.
I am divorced with three grown-up daughters, one of whom lives in Oxford, the other two in London. And then there are my two gorgeous grand children - I am quite besotted ! Lastly, we have a new family member - Jess, my golden labrador puppy, a real little character and quite adorable.
I enjoy travelling and exploring, food and cooking, gardening and growing vegetables on my allotment. I love walking on Port Meadow and in the Oxfordshire countryside. And in the summer I really enjoy swimming in the river.
