Sara's house is a really cool Gent style place with three floors incorporating kitchen and bathroom, living room and bedroom. It is in a great central location, walkable to all the sights of Gent and situated in a quiet courtyard. The apartment itself is nice and has all the amenities you need. My main negative comment is that it wasn't the cleanest place. In particular the bedding didn't seem clean which was quite off putting. Sara did say she hadn't had a chance to clean the apartment herself before we stayed but I thought that meant someone else had done it and it seems this was not the case. Besides this, the place was really great and Sara doesn't charge a cleaning fee either. I would recommend it but it needs to be ensured that the bedding is clean next time.
The location of the apartment is absolutely perfect. That is the best thing. The apartment also has some real character. The doorways are small and the stairways have shallow steps- but this is super typical in this region so quite authentic! There are plenty of options for parking in this area, but you will need to pay for it during the day (but not have to move it or renew the ticket every two hours which is great). We had problems getting in touch with Sara and she was delayed in her responses and how to check in. The trash was not taken out and we didn't know where we could put it. There was definitely a smell of water damage that we could not get rid of. However, since we were at a wedding the night before, she was really gracious and flexible with the check out time, which we thank her tremendously for. Considering everything, yes we would stay there again but only if the price was lower. We believe it was overpriced for the issues we experienced.
We arrived to ghent from London and our stay at Sarah's place felt like our first real taste of europe! The location is perfect. I mean perfect. The house it self was fine. 3 small floors of a kitchen/bathroom floor. Then the tv room, Upstairs bed room. The only downside is no wifi. The bedroom upstairs was really hot. But it was a heat wave when we were in ghent so it shouldnt be a regular problem. Her neighbour Sven gave us the key and welcomed us. He offered to give us any advice we needed on the city!
My stay at Sara's place was great. Although Sara was not there to physically greet me, she ensured that I could easily get hold of the keys. Sara's apartment is thoughtfully designed and attractive. The apartment is easy to find and located in a safe neighbourhood within close proximity to the town centre. As a bonus, although the apartment is meant for one person, two to three people could easily fit into the place. Overall, I highly recommend Sara's place for short-term stays in Ghent.
