Located a mile and half from Lewis and Clark College, under four miles to OHSU and just 6.5 miles to down town. The comment we hear most often from guests is that this "feels like living in the country". We are the perfect place for families visiting Lewis and Clark College or anyone who wants peace and quiet after a day of kicking around downtown Portland.

The space

This suite, with vaulted ceilings and ample light, is perfect for couples or individuals. It has a comfy king-sized bed with high-quality linens, a sitting area with a chair that converts into a twin sized bed. There is also a queen sized air mattress.

A small room off the main suite serves as your “kitchenette” and dining area. An electric kettle, drip coffee cone with filters, microwave and refrigerator are provided for your convenience.

The private bathroom with shower has comfortable towels and all the basic necessities.

You'll have a dedicated and covered parking space, near the front door.

The suite is attached to the rest of the house and you enter through our front door, but the listing is limited to the suite which feels like a studio apartment once you enter it.

Guest access

Once you've made your reservation, we'll send instructions on how to access the house. Please feel free to roam our half acre.

Interaction with guests

Our jobs as a naturopathic doctor and non-profit manager keep us busy during the week. If we're here, we're happy to interact or give you as much privacy as you like. Any time we're in town we're only a call or a text away.

Other things to note

If you forget an item or need to borrow something, and we have it, we're happy to loan it.

I will start by mentioning that this stay was not for vacation purposes. I was there from 8/2/17-8/10/17. I am relocating from LA to Portland and my apartment was not available for occupancy until 8 days after my arrival. I was also starting a brand new job in a brand new city (for me). I was under a lot of stress since all of this hiring and relocation took place during the 3 wks prior to my arrival. Also, my new job was based on the fact that I was a Portland local, meaning my new employer was not paying for my relocation or any hotel stays. I am mentioning all these factors because they influenced my decision to use AirBnB instead of the normal hotel option. I am fairly new to AirBnb but decided to give it a whirl since so many other new things were unfolding in my life. I wanted to start out my new life in Portland in a peaceful, homelike setting so that I would feel like I was already embedded in the city. When I came across David & Wendys' listing I couldn't believe how fortunate I was. I am not an urban city dweller type of person. I'm more of a 'burbs kind of guy. I was not looking for place within the downtown area. Their home, nestled among lush trees and vegetation in an extremely peaceful 'country like' suburb of Portland was exactly what I wanted and needed. I am not a high maintenance kind of person, so all the furnishings were comfortable and met my needs, especially the king bed. The kitchenette (no stove) was also perfect and provided a great alternative to having to dine out all the time. The well appointed bathroom, with its oversize, shower, was a welcome way to kick off the day. Portland was having a record heat wave at the time of my arrival. But you wouldn't know it upon entering my large 'master' style bedroom. The AC unit, along with the ceiling fan, were up to the task and I never felt any discomfort. I had sold my (fully renovated ) home a year ago. In a unique coincidence, the style of my airbnb master suite matched almost exactly that of my former home. The cathedral ceilings, large windows, and well appointed bathroom provided me a profound sensation of feeling "at home!" I kind of wish I could've lived there :) Just a note for those who haven't yet been to Portland. Although their home was in the suburbs, my commute to my new job (located in the SE section, across the river), and anywhere else in the Metro area does not take long. That was quite a revelation for 'this LA guy.' Most trips by car can be done within 20 minutes, even at rush hour !!! Having come from LA, this was quite a revelation. So don't be put off that this place is not located in the city center. Instead, be...

We really enjoyed our stay… Just being there let us know how much forethought and thoughtfulness you and Wendy put forth in preparing for anyone to stay.you're in room booklet answered any questions we had about the Wi-Fi or the operations of your furniture. You provide guests with the privacy and independence they may desire and at the same time offer an hospitable greeting. A quiet countryside cottage so close to downtown Portland. I highly recommend it!

As a first-timer, my experience could not have been any better. From the prompt communication from David & Wendy, attentiveness with details, to the beautiful and spacious room we got to stay - it was a great weekend stay. My daughter (3 years old) kept exclaiming, "it's perfect" when we got there, and I couldn't agree more. A few things that uniquely stood out to me: the small kitchen that is connected to the room had a sliding door, so while my daughter slept - my sister and I got to visit in the kitchen late into the evening. The bathroom is amazing, and the shower was so big plus fantastic amenities. The towels were soft and very nicely kept. It was very quiet throughout the entire stay.

Comfortable, clean, and accommodating vacation rental. Hosts were friendly, helpful, and respectful of our privacy. Location is secluded yet close to town. Great walking options for me and our pet.
