Light bright, clean and centrally located, this two bedroom apartment has windows with lots of greenery as you look around the neighborhood. One bedroom has a king size bed with a firm, pillow top mattress. The second bedroom has a unique bed that can be either two twin beds or it can snap together to be a double bed (check out the photos to see it set up both ways), also pillow top mattresses. The living room has a futon that opens into a queen size bed. The dining table seats six comfortably and can open. This place is light and bright with "treesim" or shutters on the bedrooms and living room. There is an air conditioning unit called a "mazgan" in the living room which can heat or cool. Each of the two bedrooms also has a "mazgan" unit for your comfort in summer or winter. There are fans in both bedrooms and a ceiling fan in the living room to keep you comfortable in Israeli summers.
All the greenery that surrounds this apartment houses birds who will sing cheerfully every morning. If you look out the dining room/living room window, you might see the flock of green parakeets who live across the street.
The kitchen has all you need, oven (meat), toaster oven (dairy), full refrigerator, stovetop and microwave (dairy). Drawers contain foil, plastic wrap, sandwich baggies, etc. There are a few pots and pans, plates and flatware, all marked pareve, dairy, or meat.
It is important to note that you will come up flights of stairs. We are two flights up from the ground floor. (Not everyone will "get" this, but they are "easy" steps, meaning, they are not deep so they are comfortable to ascend.) Because it's on the top floor, it is quieter, breezier, and brighter.
There are only two apartments per floor which means there are only four apartments from our entrance.
It can sometimes be difficult to find parking in Jerusalem, but there is plenty of free parking on the street in front of our building.
Wireless internet, washer/dryer. There is a garden area in front that does not have chairs or benches.
Interaction with guests
Yaron will answer the phone to help you with your needs. This apartment is your home away from home as it is fully and exclusively your space during your stay.
Other things to note
We keep a shelf with a variety of books for you to enjoy while you stay with us. One shelf has books to help you tour Israel and Jerusalem. Previous guests have added to our collection of books and touring info, so you may find something old or new.
You may have noticed that we don't have as many reviews as other places. This is in part because we only rent for longer term (which is why we have such a low price for a two bedroom place), so we don't have as many guests. Sometimes we stay here ourselves. We are always adding more amenities or comforts!
No smoking please
Strictly kosher kitchen
(If you do not keep kosher and want a longer term rental, please be in touch as we may able to accommodate you.)
Pet free environment
We are an American couple living the dream in the Holy Land. Yaron has a real estate business in Tzfat. Laya is an author (also known as Aunt Laya). She facilitates writing retreats and nurturing retreats for women to renew themselves.
Sometimes we travel together, sometimes separately. We've had bed and breakfasts on and off for over 20 years. So we hope you'll find us to be respectful guests and a gracious hosts.
We are Torah observant Jews, meaning we keep the biblical laws for keeping Sabbath, and dietary laws. So we eat only kosher food and that narrows where and what we can eat. Laya is health oriented and that narrows it even more!
A current favorite quote is: "Some of your best memories haven't happened yet!" We like the attitude of looking forward to good things in life. We hope your stay with us will provide you with a beautiful memory or two.
We have two, beloved, grown kids.
