Rewind to the 1980s cottage lifestyle at our retro camp! Ours is a social, adult atmosphere meant for people who want simple, quirky accommodations. Everything here is retro, so be prepared for a rustic experience that's not got a lot of modern amenities. If you're not into the rustic vibe, we might not be the best place for you. If you're into analog media, socializing with other like minded folks, music, and offbeat accomodations, then this is the place for you.

The space
Welcome to Camp Bongopix! We have 5 retro cabins, this one is "MewTwo Cabin." MewTwo is on the Madawaska River in Whitney. You can canoe into Algonquin Park from the dock! Many hiking trails nearby. RETRO TREASURES! The cabin has: VCR/VHS, cassettes+BoomBox and Super Nintendo. BBQ, bring your own charcoal, we supply fire starter. Private toilet/shower, full kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, stove, fridge, toaster, coffee-maker, kettle). It's important to note that this cabin has a bathutub only - there's no shower head in here. Perfect for a soak after a long day of hiking in the park. 1 bedroom/1 queen bed. Towels and bedding provided. This is a retro camp - NO WIFI.

Warning: LOUD MUSIC, cannabis, tobacco, and alcohol. Due to our liquor license, all overnight guests must be 19+. Unfortunately we cannot make any exceptions to this rule, so please don't inquire if you're travelling with anyone under the age of 19 years
old (including infants), which is the legal drinking age in Ontario.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 Update:

A couple of important things to consider, as we have had to make a few changes to ensure that we are adhering to the proper guidelines while COVID-19 is still circulating:

- Saturday night #Jamnite will be suspended for right now, until we know more about the proper procedures regarding gatherings and safe social distancing practices. This may change before opening day on June 26th, we'll keep you posted.
- Canoe rentals will be more streamlined. You'll have to book your rental ahead of time with Bongo or Andrea to ensure that we can have things properly sanitized and ready for you. We will be setting up stations where you will interact with only one boat, and all equipment will be provided ahead of time (no shared canoe shed). We'll also need you to sign your waiver digitally before your trip. We encourage you to bring your own lifejacket if you have one.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times while outdoors to prevent any accidental contact with other guests.
- Shared spaces are changing. There will be no access to the common room in our lodge, so no public washroom facilities are available. Our beach area will be open for a maximum of 2 parties at any given time, and there will be no shared equipment (picnic tables, chairs, swimming raft).
- All check-ins will be contactless! For our veterans, you already know where to go and how to make yourself at home. If it's your first time, we'll send you a detailed list of instructions on how to get to your unit and let yourselves in.

We know this is a lot to digest. We'll make sure to communicate this with you upon arrival, too. We're so happy to be able to have people back, we have missed all of you! Peace & love from the Algonquin wilderness!

Other things to note
NO WIFI! Put your phone away and rewind to 1980. This is a retro camp - there are 5 cabins on our property. You will probably meet other guests since our cabins are close together. If you want to be alone/private I do not recommend booking our cabins. The Algonquin wilderness is next door but our cabins are still located in the tiny "bush town" of Whitney. We are 420 and LGBTQ friendly. Dogs/cats are welcome! Sorry, no kids, and NO WIFI.

We are a couple of musical punks in the woods near Algonquin Park. Come and jam with us at the campfire!
During your stay
Camp Bongopix is for social people. We are very active hosts who like to chat with guests, sing songs, and give activity tips. If you are looking for a very quiet or private experience do not book this listing! We do not enforce strict quiet hours so be kind and rewind. We are extremely outgoing. Every Saturday night 8pm-12am we have our weekly jam nite at our nearby hostel.
