Thanks for checking out Crooked Road Cabin! Our clean, cozy cabin is located near Chateau Morissette and Villa Appalachia wineries, hiking at Rocky Knob and Buffalo Mountain, Floyd, Mabry Mill, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and more. There’s plenty to do in the area, but the cabin is in a quiet, relaxing, and peaceful setting. We have all the comforts of home, including central air/heat, gas fireplace, and a full kitchen and bath with washer & dryer. We really hope you'll give us a try!

Our cabin is an authentic, hand-hewn hemlock cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains, near Meadows of Dan, Floyd, and less than two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's privately situated on a unique property with other cabins scattered around; our particular cabin is in a private location with tall trees bordering two sides, and a hillside bordering another, to offer plenty of seclusion. Parking is immediately adjacent to the cabin, with no hills or stairs to climb other than two steps up to the front porch.

The cabin has wood floors, a private master bedroom, a loft with two beds (one queen, one single) and a custom-made walnut futon, a full kitchen with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster, and bathroom with walk-in shower and a full size washer and dryer. The dining area has a solid walnut table and benches that seat six.

The living room has a cozy gas fireplace that's easy to operate, a comfortable sofa and coffee table, a cane rocker and comfy glider, 39" cable HDTV, free WiFi, and a Bluetooth stereo speaker. We have some DVDs available, plus lots of books and board and card games.

There's space for five (maximum seven) to sleep comfortably here - a queen bed in the private bedroom, with windows looking out at the trees, and a queen bed, single bed, and futon in the loft. All linens and towels are provided for your stay.

One of the best features is the large wooden deck off the back of the cabin; it's quiet and comfortable, with rocking chairs, a wicker love seat, and a charcoal grill. You can put on a playlist, sit and relax with a good book and a cup of coffee or glass of wine, and enjoy.

Meadows of Dan, Virginia, United States

You can walk or drive down the private road to the Cockram Mill Complex, where Longfin Grill is located. On the grounds of the cabin itself, are a nice walking trail through the trees, mowed fields and paved roads to walk, run, bike, toss a ball and walk your dogs.

Explore the Blue Ridge Parkway (less than two miles from the cabin) and Virginia’s Crooked Road Music Trail. Lovers Leap is on J.E.B. Stuart Highway, only a couple of miles away, and has some of the most picturesque views around. There are several antique shops, country stores, and farmers markets in the area. Mabry Mill is one of the most photographed landmarks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and is just a few miles away. It’s a famously popular attraction (including a restaurant in-season). The mill still grinds flour more than a century since its original construction. Near Mabry Mill, you can also see the Matthews Cabin, blacksmith shop and interpretive area, as well as demonstrations on blacksmithing, carding, spinning, basket making and other traditional Appalachian crafts.

Chateau Morrisette and Villa Appalaccia Wineries are nearby and easy to get to from the cabin. They often have festivals, live entertainment, or other activities going on. You can also enjoy local and regional meaderies and cideries. Spend a few days at FloydFest - the cabin is one of the most convenient spots to stay if you're attending. Less than a half hour away, we recommend you visit the unique town of Floyd, VA. Some of the attractions there include restaurants, Dogtown Grill, Five Mile Mountain distillery, Buffalo Mountain Brewery, Floyd Country Store where they have (during season) live Bluegrass music (lots of fun), other live music, arts, and crafts that are set up formally (and sometimes sporadically) throughout town.

There's tons of stuff to do outdoors, including hiking the trails at Rocky Knob/Rock Castle Gorge; Fairy Stone State Park; Fred Clifton Park; and Buffalo Mountain. The Rocky Knob recreation area covers more than 4000 acres, with four trails that offer a variety of scenic and historical wonders. The Rock Castle Gorge trail descends over three miles into the backcountry camping area in the bottom of the gorge. The strenuous and rugged nature of the trail reveal part of the reason this pathway was given National Recreational Trail status. Kayak and canoe rentals are available near Floyd, and Buffalo Mountain ziplines is just a few minutes away. There's also a great recreation area nearby with basketball and tennis courts, and Fred Clifton Park, a couple miles up the road, has awesome views of the northern Blue Ridge and diverse bird and butterfly watching.

It's an easy drive to Martinsville to catch a NASCAR race. Stuart is a beautiful drive less than 20 minutes from the cabin, while bigger box stores can be shopped in Galax, Christiansburg, and Martinsville.

Prior to purchasing the cabin, our family had vacationed many times to this part of Virginia. We really enjoy the entire area - it's quiet and relaxing, but with plenty to do and see as well. There's something for everyone here. We're avid book readers, enjoy a glass of wine, doing day hikes, and taking time out whenever time allows. This place is the perfect place to do all that.
