Welcome to Velouria, our cabin in the redwoods of northern California. With a cosy loft bedroom in the main house, a romantic wood burning stove, a guest cabin located on the property and a new outdoor hot tub, surrounded by vaulted redwoods. It has everything to make your forrest retreat perfect. It's close to downtown Guerneville and many beautiful local attractions, nature trails and renown vineyards.

The space

This special cabin has a very unique, treehouse feel to it. Sit with a good book on one of the sundecks or in the tree-hung hammock by day, then warm yourself in the cosy living-room with rustic log fire when it gets dark, then have a relaxing nighttime dip in the hot tub before trundling of to your bed.

Guest access

The main cabin includes a small but very functional and well equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and bath, living room with Cable TV, Amazon TV (including a game station, Netflix, HBO Go, FX Now, et...) and a Blueray player.

The Main Loft Bedroom is located up a set of spiral stairs and has a queen size bed, dresser drawers and closet with hangers, bed side tables and stylish, quirky decor and lamps.

The satellite cabin is a seperate building located further down the property and has a queen size bed, Cable and Amazon TV, two bedside tables and lamps and a space heater. The bathroom is located in the main house. The secondary cabin is small but nothing beats waking up to that view!

The Sundeck is positioned so you can usually choose a shady spot or full sun. It has four sun loungers.

The hot tub deck is located further down the hill. It's such a perfect location for a hot tub, secluded and quiet. It has a new hot tub spa and an outside shower. There are lights to light the deck and trees at night, or switch them off and let the Milky Way light up the night sky for you.

The Cabin is a 7 minuet drive to Guerneville where you will find a great selection of delicious food, quirky shops as well as access to the river at Johnson's Beach with Kayak and Canoe rentals.

Interaction with guests

We don't live at the property but I'm available on the phone or by email 24Hours a day from when you book til after you check out! We have put together a guide book of local restaurants, shopping, nightlife and sporting activities, all with our recommendations so you can get a feel for the Northern California rural experience.

Other things to note

The property is located on a hillside, we love this and how much character and privacy it bring to the place, however if steps are a problem for you then this may inhibit your enjoyment of our home.

There is parking for two cars outside of the gate. Please don't park in a way that blocks the road or park in front of neighbors property and certainly not in their drives. It's a small community and people can be sensitive about their land and parking. The driveway has a camera that watches over your cars at night, though we've never needed them!

Craig & Shane were great hosts and very thorough in the guestbook and check-in/check-out process. Although we did have an issue with the keyless entry system upon arrival, Craig quickly answered the phone and helped us out with a backup plan and we were inside in no time! You'll definitely enjoy this place - its so charming! The hot tub was great, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals, hanging out on the deck and enjoying the peaceful tranquility of the area and admiring the beauty of the property was awesome. Plenty of wineries and cute, quirky stores and stuff to check out nearby. We had a wonderful stay and would totally recommend Craig, Shane and their place to anyone!

Shane and Craig went out of their way to make my husband and my quick anniversary overnight a delightful retreat. They offered great local suggestions and were responsive a thoughtful throughout the booking and check-in process. Home was comfy and private, and perfect for a couple or small family looking to explore the area and even cook a meal or two. Looking forward to returning!

The cabin: Velouria made a nice, quiet, shaded retreat for our romantic vacation. There is a vintage 60's-70's vibe with lots of earthy browns/oranges and funky figurines/artwork all over. The upper house was fully equipped with mini kitchen with a full size fridge, oven/stovetop and all the dishes you'd need. The bathroom was roomy, the loft style bed is surrounded by sunny windows and skylights, but hidden from prying eyes. The "satelight cabin" down the hill is pretty tiny but but has a great view and a comfy bed, and the jacuzzi just below was hot, clean and relaxing. The good: - Cute, tiny and comfortable house on a secluded, quiet street. About 2 miles away from main street/town of Guerneville with groceries, shops and restaurants. - Nicely stocked kitchen supplies. Laundry on site. Banging hot tub. - Excellent communication with Shane + Craig... we got locked out and they replied right away to help us access a spare key. - No AC, but it wasn't a problem as the cabin is pretty shaded by trees, has several windows and 2 strong fans. Even chilly at night. The bad: - The bedroom/loft is perched atop a steep, narrow spiral staircase and a bit tricky to navigate in the dark. - Lots of big, bright windows with no curtains, bring your sleep mask or rise with the sun. Also a few windows have no screens, so flies and mosquito bites were an issue. - Most house lights are accessed through this i-pod thingy on the far wall.. definitely requires a learning curve but does allow for cool mood settings if you can figure it out. - A bit removed from most of the local wineries... and really hard to get a Lyft or Uber because of the spotty cell service on the hwy. - The cabin and street was nice, but not a fan of the Guerneville area overall. There's a lot of crumbling houses, broken cars and piled up trash in what appears to be abandoned homes or old hotels along the hwy. The main town is much nicer, but there seems to be a bit of a drug/meth problem with the late night locals and we felt uncomfortable in town after dark. Definitely more cheery family vibes during the day though.

This is a beautiful location, up a hill and nestled in redwoods. The hot tub was terrific, and we really enjoyed our time. Craig was very responsive before and during our stay. Wish we had had a few more days! Hope we can visit here again.

Shane & Craig put a lot of thought into the smallest of details in their Russian River cabin. The place is well secluded, private, cozy, with amenities that will make you want to spend an evening grilling out / hot-tubbing instead of going out. Definitely one of the best Airbnbs we've stayed at.

This was an incredible home. And by home I mean it felt like a kind family shared there's with mine and that's exactly what Shane + Craig's little cottage in the trees was for us. They were instantaneous on email and the space was spotless and exactly as posted. Hoping to come back someday -the quiet and the jacuzzi and the eating nook in the trees were divine. Thanks for such a lovely stay and being a great host!

Shane + Craig have the cutest tree house close to everything! They were both very attentive and quick to respond to all my questions. Their attention to detail made our stay all the better. From the informative email prior to our stay as well as everything being labeled in the home. The home is quiet and located right in the middle of beautiful nature. Our personal favorite was coffee in the hammock every morning watching the sun rise between the tall redwood trees. Home is equipped with everything you may need. The beds were super comfortable. We even looked up the pillows they use cause they were AMAZING! A perfect place for a couple or two, even a small family. I highly recommend staying here. ❤️
