My home is right by everything you need - trains, buses, restaurants, markets, pharmacies, and the scenic East River! Just 1 minute to Chinatown, and about 15 minutes walk to Soho and East Village! PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU BOOK!

The space

*My apartment is on the 6th floor (5th if you're European) of a walk-up, which means many stairs because there are no elevators. Please be certain you are fine with this. If you have lots of heavy luggage or health issues, this may not be the place for you!

*My parents live in the apartment as well, however your room is in an isolated part of the apartment ensuring plenty of privacy.

* My apartment and building are very old - some parts of apartment are worn out.

* Your room measures 7 x 11 feet (2.13 x 3.35 meters) and has 1 full-sized bed.

- The location is near many convenient train and bus lines
- Citibikes all around so you can bike to Financial District / South Ferry, Soho, East or West Village, and everywhere else!
- Everything you'll need is around - restaurants, markets, pharmacies, and more!
- Apartment is on a moderately quiet street
- Your bedroom is away from the rest of the apartment, so it's very private!

If all you need is a bed to sleep in and a place to shower, this is the place for you! Parts of my apartment are old and worn, but we keep things as tidy and clean as possible. While I can't provide a luxurious accommodation, I do my best to provide all that you'll need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I am happy to help with any questions or requests you may have, so don't hesitate to ask for anything at all :)

While you're here, my home is your home and you are most welcome to use all the common areas as you please - whether it's the kitchen supplies or the body wash and shampoo in the bathroom, use whatever you need!

Susie is a great host - kept in close contact and was quick to respond to my queries. The neighbourhood is interesting, and close to the subway, but a little noisy at night. The walk up several flights of stairs was fine but a bit challenging with heavy luggage. Good value for money.

A great value for a private bedroom in Manhattan. The room is secluded and comfortable, and the location is convenient

The location was perfect and it's a great value for a place in the city. A lot of the restaurants we had planned to go to were very close by (15-20min walk away) and it was close to a subway station that came fairly often. It was nothing fancy, but they hosted us with many welcomes and helpfulness and you aren't really planning on staying in while you're in nyc anyways.

Great location, super close to public transit and right in the midst of Chinatown. For those of you who may be picky, the bed is on the firmer side, but I found that I slept better there than at most other airbnbs. The place felt very safe to me, and the room was modest but clean and met all of my needs. Great value!

Susie was indeed very welcoming. I asked for an iron and she left one for us which I appreciate. She was also quick to answer and both her mom and dad were friendly. Having privacy was not an issue either. Since we had read the description, we knew what to expect. Thus, this review does not concern the apartment being old or the building not having an elevator. Our main issue was the cleanliness of the place. The room was not as clean as it looks in the picture. For example: The room had insects and a lot of dust; one of the towels we received wasn't clean and the towels in the bathroom weren't changed during our whole stay. The bathtub is old, which is ok, but it wasn't really clean either, nor the shower curtains. The water is barely running, this caused some frustration. Due to this we didn't feel completely comfortable with the room, however Susie herself was helpful whenever we had questions. Might also be good to know that the AC is right by the bed and will blow right at you. Location is very good, especially if you love lower Manhattan. As described.

Response from Susie:
Hi Aynur, thank you for your stay and for providing your feedback. I wanted to address a few issues here that you brought up. The bath towels you and your friend received were definitely clean - I was the one to put them in your room and I know they had just been laundered so I'm not sure what about it made you think it was not. We would've been happy to give you another clean towel if you asked! If you saw insects in the room, then I'm very sorry about that. I've never seen any in there and I've never had any guest before mention this problem either, so this might be a rare occurrence where they somehow got into the room. This is something I will search the room thoroughly for and handle, so thank you for letting me know about that and the dust which I will search every corner for. The hand towels in the bathroom get laundered weekly as well as everytime we do laundry from guests leaving, we don't change to a different towel, but it does get washed many times a month. While the shower water pressure is not strong, if you turn the handles all the way the water that comes out is sufficient. Thank you again for your feedback, I will address the problems you brought up, I am always aiming to give my guests as comfortable a stay as possible so it's good to hear your thoughts.

This was my second time staying at Susie's place, and I don't think it'll be the last. The apartment is ideally located and by far the best value out of the other airbnb's I've stayed at in that area. It's definitely simple, but it's also clean and comfortable, which is all I need.
