The space
A luxury converted barn with hot tub crouching amidst the undulating hills and meandering streams of the Yealm Valley, South Hams, UK.

Sunridge Lodge is a stylishly converted barn with a cutting edge interior. If you’re looking for ease and luxury in a stunning natural environment then Sunridge Lodge, set amidst four acres of gorgeous countryside and only a short stroll away from a beautiful private fishing lake, is the perfect location for you. Fishing Holidays have never felt so luxurious.

The latest addition to Sunridge Lodge is a hand-built, cedar-cladded hot tub. Equipped with 19 separate jets, modulated temperature controls and bespoke mood lighting all you have to do is lie back amidst the bubbles and let your cares dissolve into the air with the vapours. It is an experience guaranteed to sooth even the most fretful soul. After a dip in the hot tub why not light the large glass fronted log burner and enjoy the 3D Home Cinema complete with the latest surround sound system.

Just a few strides from the lodge, across your garden space, is a secluded home cinema/games room.

This glorious multifunction hub is for those guests wanting an extra entertainment or games space. With a state of the art 4K 3D Ultra HD projector, combined with the very latest Dolby Atmos sound system, you can enter the world of film in the most immersive way possible! The screen itself is enormous, spanning 5 meters in diameter. Why not grab some popcorn and kick back and relax with your favourite movies. With an XBOX ONE games console, Ultra HD blu-ray player and Smart Enabled 50 Inch HDTV with freeview, the hub is filled to the brim with AV gadgets! 4 sets of 3D glasses are included and a small selection of games and movies to get you started. Please feel free to bring your own xbox games or movies (blu-ray is the best quality on such an expansive screen).

Theres also a retro arcade machine included in the HUB with over 4000 classic games to keep the kids entertained (or adults!). Complete with 2 stools you can battle out the classics in 2 player mode!

Even though this funky space doesn't house a toilet (for those wanting to spend an emergency penny), its only a short hop skip and a jump back to the lodge itself. On sunny days (fingers crossed), expansive patio doors can be opened up onto a generous decked area complete with garden bench and table. Here you can sit and relax in the sunshine, or seek dappled shade from the overhanging trees. For those guests just wanting to hide away from the world outside - close the blackout curtains and the projector will do the rest! The Air Con system will also keep you warm (or cool), depending on the elements!

The Hub could be the answer you're looking for in order to maximise sleeping space in the lodge and send your friends packing. A blow up bed thrown into the boot would be essential of course if this is something you fancy!

Whether you're more than content with the lodge itself (complete with its own more conservative size cinema screen) the hub provides another additional entertainment area thats definitely the icing on the cake! So sit back and relax while watching your favourite movies or playing games, or simply sit and gaze out of the expansive windows to the surrounding countryside…

In the bosky seclusion of Sunridge Lodge the cares of modern life will become a distant memory. Located in the beautiful, rural heart of South West Devon, Sunridge Lodge is close to numerous regional beauty spots, including Salcombe Coast and Dartmoor National Park.

Scarcely fifty yards from the front door of Sunridge Lodge is a beautiful freshwater fishing lake, over half an acre in size. Characteristically golden in colour (due to the complex mineral profile of the surrounding terrain), the lake was originally stocked over 40yrs ago and has remained self-populating ever since.

An abundance of vigorous Carp (Mirror and Common varieties predominantly) populate the lake whose isolation and beauty make it a perfect course fishing venue. (The record catch so far weighs in at a whopping 28LBs!).

The lake’s surface takes its subtly shifting golden hues from the ever-changing light so whether you want to fish or just stand on the shore and gaze at its entrancing surfaces the lake (exclusive to SUNRIDGE LODGE & SUNRIDGE TREEHOUSE guests) is the perfect place to refresh your careworn soul. Whether you want to fish or just appreciate the beauty that is all around, this is an ideal spot for that restful break from the city.

Sunridge Lodge really is the ultimate in luxury countryside self-catering in Devon.

Where you’ll be

Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom

The South Hams is England’s most outstanding area of natural beauty and at SUNRIDGE LODGE you’ll be in the very heart of it.

Only minutes from the Lodge are some of the finest, most secluded beaches in the country, many so breathtakingly picturesque that film directors insist on giving them starring roles in their movies. Mothecombe Beach, just five minutes from the Lodge, is the topographical star of Emma Thompson’s recent adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, co-starring, on that occasion, with Saltram House, a stunning Georgian domicile, once the largest seat in Devon.

From your doorstep you can step onto miles and miles of country trails. Why not take a leisurely, meandering walk along the banks of the River Erm or along the internationally acclaimed South West Coast Path?

Local villages exude character, charm and old-fashioned friendliness (something all but extinct in our nation’s more developed towns and cities). For the gourmet, food does not come any fresher or more diverse. The local area is internationally renowned for the quality of its fish, dairy and farm produce. Whether you want pheasant or quail, Sea Bass or John Dory, free-range, home-cooked bacon or a spoonful of our world-renowned Devonshire Clotted Cream, it’s all here and waiting to be sampled by you.

The surrounding towns and villages are a treasure house of architectural marvels, from medieval churches and castles to magnificent stately homes. Scores of antique shops, boutiques and bespoke craft emporia radiate provincial charm and epitomise the quintessentially English and unspoilt flavour of the region. It’s not hard to imagine that you’ve been transported back to an earlier (easier, simpler) time, especially on a chilly winter’s night when you’re sat beside a roaring open fire in the old village pub nibbling on the foaming head of a pungent local brew (boy).

While local traditions are lovingly preserved, many of the region’s inns and restaurants are as smart and sophisticated as any to be found in London. Whether you’re in Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Modbury, Noss Mayo or, indeed, your bosomy host village of Yealmpton, you will find an unrivalled range of award-winning pubs and restaurants, the taste of the food and drink invariably heightened, wherever you happen to be, by mouth-watering sea or river views.
