The space
Whanarua Bay is 25 minutes drive from the nearest store and over an hour from the nearest supermarket. Included in the rental, and for short term stays, a selection of breakfast items are provided for you to prepare at your own convenience. The kitchen pantry holds most basic ingredients and the kitchen is well equipped. A gas BBQ is available for your use. Two restaurants, each in the opposite direction, will take 30 mins to reach along SH35. There is one King-sized bed and the base price is for 1 or 2 people sharing one bed. The sofa bed can be made up as a double bed or two singles and whilst this is fine for short stays, it is not ideal for longer ones.

Where you’ll be

Waihau Bay, Bay Of Plenty, New Zealand

The Bay, a 10 minute walk away, is the most gorgeous on the coast and is safe for swimming, diving, fishing and kayaking.

Just down the road, Pacific Macadamias operates a cafe selling fresh coffee and macadamia sweet treats over the Summer. The bays either side of Whanarua are also worth exploring as is the church at Raukokore.

There is also an unguided walk through the bush to a fabulous, and very chilly, waterfall. For the adventurous there is a walk to the top of the hill behind ARUHE which can be muddy and slippery in Winter. ARUHE night skies are free of light pollution and especially in Autumn and Winter are crystal clear and wonderful for star gazing. The climate here is sub-tropical, so no frosts in the Winter.

I am multi gifted, multi talented and adventurous. I have undertaken many different employment opportunities including owning two cafes, working as a clothing designer, working for a Member of Parliament, teaching hospitality to high school students and most recently, pet and house sitting. I love to travel and the gypsy life suited me. However, that’s all going to change now that I have this beautiful property at Whanarua Bay. It’s quiet, secluded and off the main highways and I want to share my stunning view of the world with others. I have a wee dog, Kuskus, whom I adore. I love living near the sea, enjoy gardening, movies, art and music. I also like to read, enjoy good conversation, discussion of ideas, and hearing about how others see the world. I have usually traveled simply, staying in cheap or free accommodation, swapping houses or looking after someone's home and pets in their absence. That's why I so love the airbnb concept. A couple of years ago I spent three months in Malaysia and followed that up with ten days in Cambodia. Amazing! Hosting will be a new experience for me and one I have thought about for the last fifteen or so years. I am really looking forward to sharing my world.
