This beautiful self contained dwelling in set in 2 acres of traditional cottage garden, with seating areas dotted along the river, in the secret garden, under the oak tree and also has the choice of 4 patios. The guests have access to one of two hot tubs which are kept meticulously clean.
There is a large vegetable garden and chickens, a pig, sheep and Alpacas. In addition to the 2 acre garden there are 3 acres of paddock.

The space
Yr Hen Felin was a Flour Mill, serving the Dyffryn Estate. The modern self contained unit has bifold doors which open onto a South West facing patio and the back garden. There are two barbecues for guest use.
The downstairs is an open plan kitchen diner and sitting room. The kitchen is stunning, shaped like a shell and is fully equipped and even includes a bread maker. Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, brown and white sugar and spices and herbs are provided.
A three piece suite is in front of a large wall mounted 3D television with Amazon Prime. The glass dining room table has 6 chairs.
A floating staircase leads upstairs to an open plan bedroom with two king sized sofa beds. There is also sufficient room for two airbeds. There is a second television with Amazon Prime. The shower room is modern with clean lines.
There are two hot tubs for the use of the guests and we can arrange private times. Chemicals are added and monitored daily. The hot tubs overlook different parts of the river and are some way apart, giving guests privacy. They are particularly beautiful at night with the fairy lights on the bridge and along the river.
There are seats dotted around the 2 acre where you can sit and read or paint or simply day dream.

We host cider making days in October, normally twenty people work together, scratting the apples and pressing the juice, as well as preparing a traditional Sunday roast dinner with our own lamb and vegetables. The charge is £50 per person and guests leave with a flagon of juice and yeast with instructions on how to finish their cider at home. The demijohn costs £20. The cider is ready to be bottled just before Christmas.
We will be restarting art courses once coronavirus is no longer a threat. We also cater for corporate days and weddings.

Guest access
Guests are able to roam the garden and can join in feeding the sheep and Alpacas

Other things to note
This is a non smoking household. You may smoke outside.
We have dogs and cats, but they are only allowed in the farmhouse kitchen in the main house. They are not allowed in this self contained unit.

Dyffryn, Vale of Glamorgan, United Kingdom

A footpath skirts the property and forms part of the Valeways paths. Going north, a circular route takes you past Dyffryn house to the burial chambers and then to the standing stones, a bit like a mini Stonehenge.
Going South takes you to Barry Island.
There are many beautiful walks in the Vale of Glamorgan and a choice of beaches: Barry island, Rhoose, Llantwit Major, Southern Down and Ogmore. My favourite is Southern Down, but check the tide timetables to benefit from the large expanses of sandy beaches.
Cardiff has many attractions, Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Museum with an impressive impressionist collection, many shops and restaurants, although check first because of COVID.
The Brecon Beacons are approximately an hour away and are breathtaking on a clear day.
For those who enjoy fishing, Dyffryn Springs offers catch and release with positively huge carp!
