Five generations of our le Roux family have been the proud custodians of Doornkraal, a working farm in the Klein Karoo. Every day is an adventure and worth celebrating with our home-grown produce of fine food and wonderful wine. We are privileged to inhabit a truly special part of our diverse country and the tangible tranquility and feeling of safety is always of great comfort. Days are filled with farming with wine, sheep, horses, cattle, vegetable seed, lucerne and the freshest air whilst languid nights are hauntingly beautiful with the brightest twinkling stars so close you can hear them. We have no televisions and you are invited to make use of our library or bring a kindle. Wifi is limited at times so earn a well-deserved break from technology and fill your days with the good life. We look forward to welcome you as our guests and cannot wait to share our remarkable land with you.

During your stay
No day is the same on this working farm where you are invited to join in on daily, seasonal activities including sheep herding, feeding the animals – with fresh eggs for breakfast as reward - harvesting (and tasting!) of crops from the farm and kitchen garden, planting and irrigating with fresh mountain water… Or simply observe from a distance but keep your camera or sketchbook close! Breakfast is homegrown and freshly prepared every morning and served in the cottage.
