Description

The space

Entire apartment with all the privacy with separate bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, dining and living room, sofa bed, and laundry. Private yard for your use. Parking provided on our driveway.

For business travellers, both wifi and wired internet are available. If you need more desk space we have a folding table you can use.

Guest access

You have the entire apartment with private entry. You have access to a side yard with outdoor furniture. You can have access to the back yard by arrangement - we need to make sure that the gate is closed so our dog doesn't go exploring. Our dog is friendly, loves greeting guests.

Interaction with guests

We live upstairs. Anything you need, just ask. We share the laundry room but we have no need to ever enter the apartment.

We like to give our guests a welcome basket. As we have visitors from many places and cultures, please let us know if you have any cultural or dietary rules or restrictions you follow. And let us know if you're adventurous; we may include treats from places you've never seen. :)

The neighbourhood

Grocery store within walking distance, shopping and restaurants nearby. Like most of this area, there are great local shops and ethnic restaurants nearby. Check out our guidebook.

Great walking and trail running opportunities - ten minute walk to the community trail system along Grand River and woods. The trail is well maintained and goes on for many kilometres. There are great parks and access to the Great Lakes within an hour's drive.

We're not much for nightlife, so if you find a good local hangout please drop us a line so we can add it to our guidebook.

Getting around

We are very close to bus route 204. Downtown is 14 minutes by bus. The Kitchener airport is 15 minutes by taxi. The Via train is 18 minutes by bus.

Both Uber and City Cabs will come to our house to pick you up. Airways Transit runs a door-to-door limo shuttle to Toronto Airport.

If you plan to get a rental car at the Kitchener Airport you must reserve it ahead of time, otherwise they may not have one for you. Both Enterprise and Hertz have representatives there.

Other things to note

There is a shelf with books and games. Please feel free to swap books and games.

We will normally try to give you advanced notice via SMS, email, or phone if we need to enter the apartment. We reserve the right to enter the apartment without notice in an emergency, if we suspect you're causing damage, or if we suspect you may have had a health issue.

We can stock the kitchen with food on request. Contact us for choices and details.

This place was very welcoming! We arrived around 10 pm, left late... and the owners were very welcoming. The unit is a basement apartment, had all the equipment we needed, very clean, no issues with wifi (everyone always needs wifi these days). All was great!

I stayed at Yan & Noriko's place for 3 nights while in town for a volleyball tournament. Our stay was wonderful! The apartment was clean, bright, and cozy. The hosts are amazing with communication. Any questions I had were promptly answered. Check-in was a breeze. Close to grocery stores and a short drive to restaurants, and coffee shops. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts. I highly recommend booking this apartment!

Yan & Noriko were great hosts. We had a wonderful time staying at the apartment - which was spotless and very neat - it looks exactly like the photos. They were very welcoming and sent us clear instructions on how to reach the place and about the entry to the apartment well before our travel - so that things were clear before we start our big journey. They were very flexible with the check-in time as our flights got very much delayed. They also advised us regarding food options, restaurants nearby. Immediate food requirements also were left in the refrigerator for us when we reached. The apartment was having immediate requirements like salt, cooking oil, water, eggs, butter, bagels etc.. in addition to the welcome basket - which was really helpful as we reached just before midnight. Appreciate that very much. The apartment had clean towels ( and spares), with soap, shampoo etc which lasted for our stay there. The location was perfect for us as we were just moving to Canada from India - with Drive Test, Service Ontario very nearby and Grocery store just across. There's also a pharmacy around the corner. I would say the apartment was sunny and bright whenever the weather permitted despite being a basement apartment. Grand River arena is just across - there's a public library too. Thanks for making us feel welcome to Canada - this is our first long term stay in Canada. The first leg of it's gone very well. Just another point regarding the location that I forgot to mention - it's one of the top school districts - which was another plus for us about the location - as we were researching on which school to enroll our kid into and also wanted to make sure it was a good neighborhood before we get her. The neighborhood is also safe and quiet. Yan and Noriko's apartment has a good collection of books. The place was also very close to public transit - bus stops being very nearby to the apartment. They also had lots of pamphlets about nearby places of interests, maps etc. The kitchen was well-equipped - had everything we were looking for. Whenever it snowed they'd warn us about the conditions - and also immediately clear the path and the driveway of the snow. They are very friendly hosts. It was our home for the time we stayed there. My brother and his family stayed with us for a couple of weekends - they were flexible about this as well as we had informed regarding his visits too - they also provided us with extra blankets, sheets, pillows for their stay. In between the stay I had to visit a dentist due to an emergency and found a friendly dentist just across from the place - who was willing to help me out - as I didn't have insurance covering dental yet. Overall it's an awesome place to stay where you are looking for a short...
