Cosy old cottage. The front bedroom has a double bed, table/desk and armchair. The room is full of light on a very peaceful road.

Combining the best of both worlds, being next to the river and meadows and only 20 minutes walk to the city centre. A pleasant walk into town allows you to ‘people watch’ as cyclists, joggers and families go along the river into the city centre.

Discount for longer stays.

The space

Great for city centre shopping, visiting museums, colleges, restaurants, cinemas and pubs, all of which are a 15 - 30 minute walk along the river from our house. It is even quicker if you choose to walk into town along the busy Newmarket Road. There is also a pub on the corner of the road which serves food and a huge supermarket across the road.

We live in 3 bedroom 140 year old cottage on a quiet road in central Cambridge. It is small but cosy and peaceful. The bedroom is a good sized room at the front of the house. There is one downstairs bathroom which is shared with myself and my 11 year old child.

The garden can be used at any time to eat outside or work in, or smoke.

The front sitting room is a family space only.

If you choose to walk to town on the busy Newmarket Road side of our house then it is about 10 minutes walk to the Grafton Centre with its large cinema and many shops and cafes. Another 10 - 20 minutes takes you to the older centre with its colleges, museums, independent cinema, restaurants, cafes and punting.

We are well situated for buses (Citi 3) and taxis, 10 minutes taxi ride to the train station or rent a bicycle at the train station!

Interaction with guests

I am originally from Dublin but have lived here for 9 years.

We are a busy, easygoing, peaceful household comprising myself, a 12 year old and a cat.

I am happy to give you any information I can to make your visit enjoyable. However I do work full time therefore I may not always be there when you wake up, or be at home to greet you. I can make arrangements so that you may arrive at any time which is convenient to you even if I am not there.

We enjoy independent, friendly, self-contained guests who make their own plans.

Other things to note

We get up at 7 on weekdays and are usually out of the house between 8.30 a.m. and 4-5.30 p.m.

Please have showers anytime between 9.30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

I don't take one night bookings. I prefer longer stays and offer a discount for longer stays.

Jane's house is very comfortable and cozy. She is very nice and friendly and I enjoyed my short stay at her house. The place is located next to the river, and you can walk alongside the river and enjoy the scenery.

The neighborhood very quiet and nice, close to the city center 15min by bike and 30 walking. The room was very comfortable with everything needed for people going for work. The hostess was very kind and friendly, always worried that one would feel at home. 100% recommendable

Jane is a nice, calm and patient person, helpful when you need anything. The house is situated in a quiet street within a walking distance from the centre. You can enjoy the walk along the river and through the park every day. The room is bright and the bed large and really comfortable. I highly recommend this place, Jane is a great host.

Jane was a great host. She is really sweet and makes every effort to feel like your are at home and at the same time have your own time, e.g. she let me have use the kitchen to cook my meals before she cooked for herself. The place is really nice as well, and the bed is big and comfy. Thank you for everything Jane!

Jane was a wonderful host and made me feel at home straight away. The charming house is just up the road from the river. It is scenic and great for people watching- lots of bikes, runners and rowers. You can walk into the centre of Cambridge in about 15 minutes along the river and through Jesus Green park - which is lovely and also has a wonderful 100 yard outdoor swimming pool built in 1923. Super comfy large bed and spacious room. I really loved the garden and patio too. I had a brilliant stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended.

Jane is a wonderfully open, communicative and relaxed host. In addition to that, Coco the house cat is so cute and lovely. All of this makes you feel at home rather than feeling like a stranger (which happens in hotels a lot). I recommend everyone to stay here! :) (Also, the area Jane lives in is beautiful)

I had a great stay with Jane. She wasn't home when I arrived so she had left me a key to get in. Jane is easy to talk to and her home is in walking distance of the center of Cambridge. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed.
