Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Spectacular views of Montezuma Valley, Mesa Verde Park and Sleeping Ute Mountain are directly out the floor to ceiling windows across the private & intimate studio space located on 40 acres. Want simple? Great spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Take advantage of our private hiking/biking trail built by the creator of "Phil's World", a famous mountain biking venue in Cortez. A shared hot tub awaits you at the end of a long day of play! A $20 cleaning pet fee is requested upon arrival.

The space
For those traveling "lightly and quickly" and who want to be unencumbered with the "full-on" food scene, it has no kitchen, but it has a mini refrigerator and the microwave/toaster ovens allow you to bring in your favorite deli foods or prepackaged items for simple meal preparation. The bistro table and chairs provide a resting spot to view unparalleled vistas and sunsets. At the end of a day of hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing, or sight seeing, cozy up in this intimate space sipping a hot cup of tea or partaking of your favorite glass of wine. A relaxing sleep awaits you in the queen bed ( sheets and towels provided) that looks out through the expanse of floor to ceiling windows. This is "glamping" at its best ! A new large 30 gallon hot water heater gives plenty for showering! This will far exceed your expectations if you are not looking for a traditional home/hotel experience!

Guest access
The Moon Room is open for your convenience and is near the proprietor 's residence if you have any needs. We invite you to take advantage of our shared hot tub and out door grill after your day's activities. Round this out with lounging in the shade of the nearby grape arbor.
When visiting area sites such as Mesa Verde that prohibit pets, a large fenced in yard off another building gives them plenty of running room. A doggie door with access to the inside provides comfort during the nights or inclement weather. Your four-legged friends can stay safely and happily secured in your absence. Cleaning fee of $20 is requested as we shampoo carpets regularly!
Our private hiking/biking trail, built by the master of "Phil's World" in Cortez, is awaiting your footsteps for daily walks. Stretch out in the separate Sun Room which has rugs and cushions for yoga, meditation, and other quiet activities.
Large open parking areas allow for small RV's, vans, and trailers.

Other things to note
The infrastructure of this small space is not equipped to handle the harder freezes that can occur in our area. As a consequence of this limitation, we most likely will not remain open during December, January, February or March. But you can contact us to see if this could change during any given time period. Check out our larger retreat home on airbnb called Casa Cielo Retreats which can house up to 6 individuals and is a fully appointed house with all the amenities of your own home.

Beware !!! (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps-sometimes seems to send guests north on CR 30 off Hwy184 and you need to go south onto CR30 off Hwy 184 ! Possibly wrong address has been typed into it...?!? We have a shared driveway so plz. DO NOT GO TO NEIGHBOR'S LOG HOUSE; stay right at the "Y" going thru woods and into our complex. Moon Room is on back side of the bamboo carport and has a bamboo porch on it's front entry.

Location

Dolores, Colorado, United States

After a day full of outdoor activity or ambling through the streets and shops of our nearby towns of Telluride and Durango we can steer you towards our local places of "color" and entertainment. Just 5 minutes away in the village of Dolores, our micro brew pub offers super wood-fired oven pizzas, unique salads and "suds" and almost weekly live music. The small, local market offers a variety of locally grown organic veggies and on-site butchered meats and deli items. Only 15 minutes away in Cortez, you can enjoy a variety of ethnic restaurants offering Thai, Mexican, sushi, or down-home BBQ and breakfast joints. Summer brings oodles of produce to our local farmers market on Saturday mornings in Cortez and Wednesday afternoons in Dolores. There are boat, kayak, and paddle board rentals to round out water play on the Dolores River and McPhee reservoir and bicycle rentals are available.
