Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
This special place is close to everything, making it easy to plan your visit. Walking distance to all shops, pubs and restaurants, of which there are plenty. Five minutes walk to the bus station which allows you to travel anywhere on this amazing island. The room itself is cosy and peaceful, with a smart TV, tea and coffee making facilities (includes biscuits). Complimentary wine on arrival. Large bathroom with shower over bath. Full use of facilities and lovely garden to sit in if it's sunny.

The space
Beautiful, well appointed double room with views overlooking the garden. Guests have use of all communal rooms in this much loved house. Being an old cottage, it does have low ceilings and low doorways in places so guests really must mind their heads. Unfortunately, it is not suitable for children or anyone with mobility problems as there is quite a steep spiral staircase that guests will have to brave to get to the bedroom and bathroom. Please do not book this property if you have children. There will be a warm welcome on your arrival to show you where you are staying and answer any questions you may have. Please ensure good communication regarding arrival times, this will limit any waiting around or being unable to gain access to the property..
Parking is available in a car park about 100 metres away, it is pay and display and does tend to get busy during holiday times. A visitor permit is available at a small cost, this will allow you to park in nearly all Council car parks across the island. If bringing a car, please enquire about parking before booking.

Guest access
Guests will receive a key for the front door and the bedroom door on their arrivel, which they can keep hold of for the duration of their stay. There is also a key safe by the front door in case I am not there to greet you, key code will be given prior to arrival if needed. Guests may come and go as they please, but I do ask that they respect there are neighbours either side and noise carries through the walls, so please keep noise to a minimum in the evening and early hours and close doors quietly. Please also be mindful to communicate your arrival time as early as possible, or if you are going to be later/earlier than expected. This will limit any waiting around or the chances of the property being empty on your arrival and guests not being able to gain access.

During your stay
More than happy to socialise with guests and answer any questions they may have. Guests will be able to contact me by phone, text or email if needed.

Other things to note
This property is unsuitable for children, there is one double bed in the room and no room for cots. Please do not book if you have children with you as I am not set up for children and there is a fairly steep spiral staircase up to the bedroom and bathroom which, sadly, is also unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.
There is a step down into the bathroom and it has a low ceiling, so guests will need to mind their head on entering. Due to the low ceiling the shower over the bath is also fairly low.

I used to be a publican in a quaint village pub on the Grand Union Canal in Buckinghamshire. But, searching for a quieter life, I moved to the Isle of Wight. I am now a Community Carer, a job which is very satisfying and I love doing. I feel very lucky to be living on such a beautiful island. It still amazes me that I can go to the beach anytime I like, whereas previously, I couldn't have been further away from it! Loving life right now.
