Perched on the hillside with views of the lake, this cabin has everything you need for a night ...or a week away! Open plan living in this self-catering cabin, the queen sized double bed is in the main room and two singles are in the glassed in front porch - it is big enough for the parents and two kiddos. Kitchen area (with 2 burners, counter space, grill outside, and two dorm sized fridges) is big enough to make your meals so you don't have to leave this paradise.
Most of the crystal clear pond is surrounded by land owned by local water companies - making for very little lake traffic. When you are sitting on the dock it is nearly impossible to see another home. Yet, adventurous ones may try out the kayak ( 1 adult, 2 small ones), sunfish, or rowboat that's available and see what's on the other end of the lake! You will be hearing the loons.
Bring your binoculars! Eagles, herons, ospreys might be seen. But most of all here at Harmony- as we call it - there is peace. We live in the adjacent log lodge with wraparound veranda. One may see it in the last picture.
Farmington is a quaint college town 6 miles away. It is located in the foothills of the western mountains, and is a 1.5 hour easy drive from Portland. It has a small downtown with restaurants and unique shops, plus a Hannaford and Walmart nearby as well as a movie theater.
If you are arriving late in the day, we advise you to grocery shop first. The last 2 miles of public road to our place is bumpy and an extreme sport in itself. Some improvement made in 2017...(After a day or two, you sort of get used to it.) You can pick up groceries at Hannaford's (west on Rt. 2) or the smaller, unique Tranten's located on Main St. in town.
