Although my husband and I are natives of Beijing, we chose to have our home in the suburbs to avoid the congestion of traffic and the noisy crowd.
This area is well-loved by foreigners who are frequent travelers to Beijing for work or living in Beijing. There are many international-renowned infrastructures such as the hospital, supermarket, restaurants, leisure and entertainment facilities, as well as international schools such as International School of Beijing (ISB), managed by the U.S. Embassy, British School and Canadian school etc.. There is a lake called the Luomahu, with many trendy restaurants located nearby. During the weekend, many people make special trips from the city to Luomahu to experience the ambience and interact with the international community.
Our apartment has two floors. It is in the semi-detached villa, 3rd and 4th level. Each level has a private bedroom, bathroom and living room, hence each level is independent of one another. We open up the top floor to our guest, where they get to enjoy the sun room, where sunlight shines in daily through the glass. However, we definitely do welcome our guests to join us on the 3rd floor where there is a living room, kitchen and dining room.
We are passionate in home design, hence we furnished our home in such a way that it displays a fusion of Western and Eastern design. We wish to create such an environment that our guests feel like they are returning to their own home. During weekends, we try not to have any plans for brunch as we would like to slowly enjoy our brunch, along with a cup of coffee and music in the background. We would like to enjoy just that moment, all worries and work frustrations are locked away. You are most welcome to join us and experience the life of Beijing families. Please make yourself at home and forget the thought that you are far away from your home, in the land of Beijing.
If you would like to understand more about the working life of the locals, we are a good example. You are most welcome to stay at our place and interact with us to have a greater understanding. If you are here to visit your relatives and friends (and if so coincidental that they are living in this area too), this is an ideal place for you!
You can ride a bicycle to roam around, it is not very far and it is a community with lots of foreigners, hence you will not feel foreign or uncomfortable. You will be able to find cuisines that you are familiar with and also communicate in your language.
There is a shuttle bus that travels to the downtown directly. It comes every half an hour during the peak period and once every hour during low peak. It is about 15 minutes walk to the Metro Line 15. You can transfer to another metro and it will take you anywhere in Beijing. Of course, it will definitely take you some time to arrive at your destination.
The biggest advantage to live in this area is convenience. You will get to visit friends and families that are living close by. At the same time, you will get to interact with us, we will be able to share with you stories of the locals. If you would like to go sight seeing during the weekend, to the mountain area to breathe in fresh air, we can drive you to places we know and we think that are fun. If you would like to visit other parts of China, I can draft out an itinerary for you too, you will definitely get to visit the famous attractions as well as have a deeper understanding of the culture.
