Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Nestled in the hills of Cape Breton, The Intervale Lodge is a riverside log cabin, thoughtfully curated to host large groups & private events; providing an idyllic and memorable private backdrop for a variety of gatherings: weddings, reunions, bachelor(ette) parties, corporate and wellness retreats, team-building events, concerts, tours and more.

The Lodge features 12 queen suites (each with a private bathroom), a fully stocked chef's kitchen, 3 common rooms, the barn, and expansive property.

The space
Welcome to our enchanting lodge, where rustic charm meets modern comfort! Recently renovated, The Lodge at The Intervale offers 12 bedrooms and a array of inviting common spaces, creating a perfect place to come together and make memories. Located atop a riverside cliff, on a large private property with expansive fields and outdoor space, The Intervale is the ideal choice for an extraordinary private retreat experience.

Bedrooms:
Each of our 12 bedrooms is thoughtfully designed to provide a cozy sanctuary after a day of exploration. Sink into our plush new beds, with both firm and soft pillows, seasonal duvets, soft linens, and blackout curtains to ensure a restful night's sleep. For added convenience and comfort, each bedroom is equipped with a private bathroom, complete with modern amenities, hair dryer, fluffy towels, and complimentary toiletries (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap).

Common Spaces:
The heart of our lodge is the main floor common space, adjacent to the open concept kitchen and dining room - the perfect place for a classic Cape Breton Kitchen Party. The spacious living area is outfitted with several sofas, and a smart TV, and walks out to the 3-seasons porch, with additional living and dining areas. The den living space on the top floor is the perfect place to unwind with a book from our library, or to snuggle in for a movie. A third living space is located in the central common area of the basement level. Designed with gamers of all sorts in mind, this space is perfect for the family Scrabble battle, or getting competitive with with one of our favourite board games. The digital gamer can plug their favourite console into the smart TV so they don't miss a beat, or can extend their computer onto the widescreen curved gaming monitor at the dedicated workstation.

Kitchen & Dining:
Our fully equipped kitchen has been stocked with culinary enthusiasts in mind, complete with modern appliances and ample space to prepare delicious meals for groups up to 16. Share a laughter-filled feast around the 2 large dining tables, creating unforgettable moments with your group. The Kitchen is stocked with all the tools the modern everyday chef could dream of: extra large appliances, stand mixer, food processor, Ninja Blender, propane pizza oven, air fryer, Instant Pot, Everything Pot, griddle tray, ice maker, BBQ, and more.

As you venture outside, the expansive 3-seasons porch features additional dining and living spaces, and lets you experience the natural beauty that surrounds us in the hills of Cape Breton. Open the windows to enjoy a bug-free breeze as you sip your morning coffee while listening to the rush of the river below.

Recreation:
Additionally, our lodge offers a range of recreational activities to keep you entertained throughout your stay. Challenge your guests to a friendly board game in our games room or head outside for your favourite lawn gamrs: ladder-ball, washer-toss, corn-hole, can jam, frisbee, football, or The Intervale's signature game - "Drop and Flop" (par-3 bucket golf). Explore the nearby hiking trails to immerse yourself in the wonders of Cape Breton's Ceilidh Trail, or challenge yourself to some of the world's top rated golf at some of the many nearby Cabot golf courses. After a long day of play, you can catch the iconic Atlantic sunset at one of the 5 local beaches, each within a short 5-10 minute drive away. Gym Access on-site is available by request only.

At our lodge, you'll find comfort, relaxation, and adventure, all wrapped in a picturesque setting that promises a memorable escape. Book your getaway at The Intervale Lodge now!

Guest access
The property booking includes full and private access to the entire lodge, including all 12 bedrooms, common spaces, and the exterior property, but excluding the on-site Staff Apartement Building (blue building). The Barn houses all of our recreational activities, and a top floor hang out room, and can be accessed upon request.

Other things to note
Though the booking is for a private listing, guests should note that there is a private staff-apartment building located on site, which is separate from the private Lodge. The Staff Apartment is where the incredible Intervale Operations Team (Saransh!) lives full-time. Though we do live on site, we know how to keep to ourselves and have plenty of space to stay out of your way so that you can enjoy the property to its fullest, in privacy. Oftentimes we may not even be on site, as we enjoy some personal time away during bookings; either way, you may or may not not see us, but we are always just a phone call away if there is ever anything that you need.

Neighbourhood highlights

Nestled in Nature at the end of a private road, The Intervale is in a secluded neighbourhood, with only a few houses nearby. There are 2 neighbours who share the private road in to the driveway, and we ask that guests refrain from going down the 2 adjacent driveways. One house is occupied seasonally, seldomly, and the other is not occupied at this time, so The Intervale property can be enjoyed with virtually no neighbours, and your campfire jams wont have any worries of curfew.

The surrounding community of Inverness Countryis home to many locals, but the population booms in the summer with many returning to summer-homes and tourists. Golf and Beaches - we love them! Check-out one of the 5 beautiful white-sand beaches in Port Hood, or get a round in at a world-class golf course in our neighbourhood!

The nearest town is Port Hood, which is a short 10 mintue drive north on Route 19 (turn right coming out of the driveway). In Port Hood you'll find the nearest grocery store, the Co-Op, which has all of your basic grocery needs and sundries. There is also a Home Hardware, which will have any household or project needs that you can't find at the Grocery.

Port Hawkesbury is the nearest large town, about 15 minutes away, and is home to a Walmart, Sobeys, Shoppers Drug Mart, Canadian Tire, Staples, and Giant Tiger for any needs that cannot be satisfied in Port Hood.

The nearest NSLC (Liquor/Beer Store) is located in Port Hood, and closes at 6pm. The nearest NSLC Cannabis is located in Port Hawkesbury.

Wayne's variety in Judique, 5 mins away, is the only late night stop in town, closing at 9pm, featuring a small NSLC selection, as well as classic snacks and essentials.
