Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber) is an ancient market town and is the largest town in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
It is situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is thus only 12 miles (20 km) from the Lake District National Park, making it convenient to explore both areas. The town, with its narrow streets, independent shops, pubs and 12th century church, has an olde worlde atmosphere. Leading on from Sedbergh is Dentdale, with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times. Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys and the two National Parks make it an ideal year-round holiday destination.
Beautiful country walks surround the area. 15 mins Dent, 20 mins Kendal, 45 mins Windermere, 1hr Buttermere.
There are dog friendly local cafes, pubs including a good food guide gastro pub, and independent shops a mile away in Sedbergh. Restaurants and more shops, banks, supermarket in Kirkby Lonsdale or Kendal - both 20 mins drive.

I am a mother of four girls and currently split my time between Kent, Cumbria and wherever they are living! I love the peace and the amazing views we have here whilst being only minutes away from shops and activities. The position of the Old Station on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District means we have the best of both worlds - beautiful walks together with canoeing on Windermere!! I have put everything in the house and cottage that I would like to find and have furnished it with good quality things and the same brands that I buy for myself - I hope you enjoy your stay with us!! PS always open to suggestions on how to improve and what little things you would have liked to have found in the house!
