Spacious but warm and cosy this detached studio apartment in South Hobart is hidden away. Perfect for a couple to explore Hobart has to offer - whilst giving tranquillity and privacy. Surrounded by LOADS of SoHo history. A 25-minute stroll via the Rivulet Walk to the city centre and Salamanca, this is a great place to come back to after a day's exploring. Tasmanian goodies such as shortbread, apples and drinks - along with dvds and books make it a welcoming sanctuary. Free Parking & wifi.

The space
Cathedral style windows make this a light and airy space. At night you can see the stars from bed - or you can watch tv! There are electric blankets on the bed for the cooler nights, and a pedestal fan for the occasional hot evening. We've got plenty of good dvds if you fancy a night in, and lots of books if you want to sit out in the garden and have a read whilst listening to the resident blackbird. Feel free to take a book home with you. A kitchenette with small oven/hot plate, microwave, fridge/freezer, range of pots and pans, toaster and kettle. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, soaps, moisturiser, talc, tissues, and fluffy towels which will be replaced each day on request if you're staying more than 2 days.
When you arrive we'll direct you to the back of the property where there is free 24/7 parking on the roadside and a private entrance.

Guest access
We have a sunny, sheltered courtyard where the BBQ is - you get the view of Mount Wellington from there. In summer the courtyard can get very hot - so bring block-out and hats. But in winter we get frosty mornings, wild winds and occasional snow. You definitely need warm clothes - especially if you're thinking of walking anywhere. The little garden alongside the studio apartment has 2 very comfortable chairs. A lovely place to sit quietly and read.

Other things to note
The studio is accessed either down a pretty garden path with steps or via the back entrance and up some steps. Whilst the steps are easy to manage the space wouldn't suit people with walking difficulties or problems with balance. Equally this is not a space or garden for babies, toddlers or children. Adults only!

You'll get a great view of Mount Wellington from just outside your front door in the courtyard - and it would take you about 20 minutes to get to the top of the Mountain by car. Or between 3 - 4 hours to walk to the top if you are VERY fit (the world's toughest half marathon - called the Point to Pinnacle - takes place every November from Wrest Point Casino to the top). Ginger Brown and Honey Brown are 2 minutes walk away for coffee and big breakfasts, the Cascade Hotel is across the road for traditional pub meals and bottle shop, the corner shop is 2 minutes away, the famous Salad Bowl delicattessen is 10 minutes walk as is our newest addition Bear With Me for breakfast and lunch. Vanidols for excellent asian food, a Post Office/newsagent, and several bric a brac boutiques. And then there's the Hobart Rivulet walk just a minute away from our back door. Go left and it will take you past the Female Convict Factory to the historic Cascade Brewery (for a tour and/or tasting). Go right and you can walk into town within 25 minutes along a beautiful leafy, level walk.
Hobart has so much history, culture and natural beauty. We now have world-famous festivals such as Dark Mofo and Festival of Voices. Book your accommodation early for these!

I am a career coach, specialising in transition and redeployment. I work almost fulltime whereas my husband, Terry, is semi-retired. I'm originally from the UK and he's a Kiwi - we discovered Tasmania when on holiday about 30 years ago - and decided it was the perfect place to live, work and bring up a family which is what we've done. For the past 26 years we had a small farm in the Huon Valley but have recently moved to town. We are loving living in South Hobart - it's like a little village but only minutes away from the bustle of Hobart. There are views, history, arts, culture, farming, bushwalking, crafts, fabulous food, yachts, markets.......the list goes on. We're sure you'll love it and we'll look forward to meeting you.

During your stay
Terry is in and out most of the day - whilst Anne will be at work. But we really enjoy greeting people and getting to know them a bit. We'll take you through all that the studio has to offer and then leave you to your privacy. But we're always available on our mobiles if you need any help or advice.
