Named Broken house by our son Loki because mum and dad were always over "fixing" (* building) our house.

Broken house is anything but, this unique underground concrete house is nestled (quite literally) in the Adelaide Hills. This modern two bedroom home has an open plan living space and floor to ceiling, sliding glass wall you can open to enjoy an uninterrupted view of the local flora and fauna. Minutes from Harndorf, Adelaide Hills Wineries, Jurlique Farm, Fourth Hill Estate and much more

The space
Broken house is completely underground yet somehow floats, Inside there is:
1x King room
1x Queen room
1x bathroom/Ldry
Also included is a full gourmet kitchen, large open plan dining and living area with Smart TV loaded with free to air apps and prime tv.

Floor to ceiling sliding wall windows which can open right up to create a seamless outdoor indoor experience.

The house can be enjoyed in both summer or winter, between the double glazed windows and green roof the house holds an even temperature most of the year. For the colder months underfloor heating gives an even comfortable heat.

Outside there are numerous areas to relax, up top, overlooking the green roof is a mediterranean inspired dining area, the rooftop lawn is a great place to do your morning yoga. In front of the house have a seat on our lawn chairs to take advantage of the afternoon shade or across the creek by the hammock if the sun is high.

Broken House is close to all the world renowned Adelaide Hills has to offer.

The whole house is yours to enjoy during the stay Barr one locked wardrobe and the tool sheds.

Other things to note
Broken House is a unique build and to achieve that we placed it at the bottom of the hill in the valley; it's what gives it all its character and that hidden retreat feel.
It does mean there are a lot of stairs and is not wheelchair friendly.

We have spread the stairs across the block and made use of the landscape to minimise the impact of the incline/decline but there are 2x runs of 10+ steps.


The property does not include air conditioning by design, being underground it is quite cool throughout the year, even on 40+ days it stays quite cool.
If the house does manage to warm up on particularly hot days be assured that the temperature in the hills drops overnight in the Adelaide hills and you can reset the house by opening everything up for a few minutes after sunset.
