The River Den is a 4 season houseboat, docked in picturesque Wakefield, Qc on the Gatineau River. This dream boat is a floating tiny house which does not have hot water, electricity, or a fridge (we do supply a cooler). There's a cozy woodstove, cooking facilities and dry composting toilet on board.

The space
The River Den is a 4 season (fully insulated) houseboat, a custom built creation designed by myself and my former partner who is the builder. The Den is 33 feet long with 23 feet of inside cabin space. The Den has a cozy wood stove and a second story sleeping loft with a very comfortable queen size bed. The loft has a steel grill floor feature, great for fresh air and heat circulation and for letting the sunlight into the main cabin from above! There is a full carpeted roof top deck, perfect for stargazing, yoga or suntanning and a front deck for lounging and has a swimming ladder. The boat has 3 eight ft patio doors and circular windows, a custom steering wheel and many more handmade rustic features!

There is no 120v electricity on the boat (which means no regular plug in electricity). We can provide a power pack for charging your devises if needed.
On bord is a Seperett dry compost toilet.

There are no locks on the boat from the outside. Only from the inside (poles to lock the patio doors). It's a safe place and very quiet.

Note: The Boat will be docked and guests cannot drive the boat.

The boat is on the Gatineau River; great swimming and fishing. Also there is an expedition shop next door which rents kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, bikes, snowshoes, skis and more.

Pls note there are steep stone steps leading down to the boat. Wear appropriate footwear! High heels not recommended;)

We supply:
-firewood
-drinking water from the Wakefield spring
-coffee and tea (no cream :)
-butane and fuel for cooking stove and BBQ
-medium sized cooler with ice packs

4 SEASON STAYS:
The houseboat is fully insulated and has double pane windows all around. Making for a very cozy time all year long. It's very comfortable in the winter months. Bring some slippers or big socks.

The steps down to the boat can be slippery if there is rain or snow so please arrive in appropriate footwear.

In the winter months there is no running water, but the drain in the sink still works and therefore guests can still do dishes, etc. We ask that guests warm a pot of water on the woodstove to have hot water for doing dishes to make sure they are shiny for the next guests!

Guest access
The whole space and any public river frontage.
The nature trail we use to access the River Den is NOT for high heels : ) We recommend smart footwear as the trail down is narrow and steep.

Other things to note
It is crucial to stick to the check in time that is decided upon together; since we do not live on site. We plan our whole day around the check in time.

No electricity
No running water
No fridge (we do provide a cooler with ice packs )
There is a camping 2-burner stove and BBQ for cooking, as well as pots and pans and a bodum for coffee.

Perfect off grid paradise in any season.

My name is Bonnie and I am the captain of the River Den, the River Zen and The Nellie. Very excited about hosting guests on my boats. I'm the daughter of a québécois log driver and I grew up on the river in Low Qc, driving boats and living on islands. I am passionate about artistic building and designing dens! My full time job is taking care of my boats and cleaning them for your stays! Im also usually working on a construction project of my own, including an island meditation retreat and my next houseboat. I have been an entrepreneur since the age of 19 and plan on continuing to explore my creativity through inspiring and creative business endeavours. I enjoy foraging wild goodies, playing huckleberry Finn, falconry with our 2 birds of prey Shagyal (Harris Hawk) and Nellie (eagle owl ).
